Here’s a cool freebie to chill out to this weekend. Chillaxian ($1.99) from Madgarden is free right now. This is a Galaxian-inspired space shooter, where enemies float around at the top of the screen, and you must shoot them as they occasionally fly down, though these aliens aren’t about lining up, they just kind of bunch together freely. The game uses simple touch controls with auto-firing, you tap on the left and right sides of the screen to move, and can bend bullets by moving as they fire. The game features a neat generative music effect that picks up as action speeds up, and “1979 mode" for something that looks like it’s being played on a buzzing CRT monitor. Oh, and impressively, the whole game is .2 MB.
Chillaxian is from Madgarden a.k.a. Paul Pridham, who made Hodappy Bird (Free) and worked on the ultra-rad Punch Quest (Free) and makes tons of cool stuff, though he also has tons of rad unfinished games that are just sitting out there, waiting to be completed and released. I have hope that we’ll see Roguebot someday…
