In our hyper-connected world of social networks and online gaming, it seems like society is forgetting about our dear old friend the loner. I myself am a loner, as I enjoy single-player games the most and rarely play online with other people. I also don’t really leave my apartment ever. Lately developers have been taking aim at that golden loner demographic, with games like One Player Pong last week and today the new Stratego Single Player ($2.99). Stratego Single Player is pretty much what its title describes: The classic Stratego board game geared towards single-player play. It also features an AI developed by a Stratego World Champion.
We first heard about Stratego Single Player late last month, and were expecting its release around that time. However, it took a little longer than we thought, but as a nice surprise this new Stratego Single Player has been released as a free update to Youda Games original Stratego iPhone game that was released way back in 2010. So check those purchase histories, or if you follow the link to the App Store you may be greeted by the little cloud icon rather than the purchase icon. Hey, it’s almost like getting a free game! For those who didn’t already own the original, Stratego Single Player is $1.99, which seems like a deal given the fresh coat of paint, host of new options, and best of all no internet connection or real-life friends being required.
