‘Swap Heroes 2’ Promises More Casual RPG Gameplay, with Overhauled Everything

Last year’s Swap Heroes ($0.99) was a neat concept, a casual turn-based RPG built all around swapping heroes around with different attack ranges and abilities that could be used by swapping them from the back row slot to the front row. Well, the developer, Savory Games, is hard at work on a sequel, and it’s expected to release on February 18th. Check out the first trailer for the appropriately-titled Swap Heroes 2.

While the game has 8 new characters and 20 new enemies to fight, the game has been given a major structural overhaul. Dying no longer forces you to restart from the beginning, but thanks to a quest system, you can unlock new progress milestones. New levels, difficulties, game modes, and more can be unlocked through the completion of quests. There are new star points, which allow you to get upgrades for your characters on the way to fighting the game’s ultimate boss, the Shadow Knight. One of those aforementioned new modes is an endless mode, which should satisfy those who liked the “Start from the beginning each time" structure of the original game. I’m looking forward to how this structure impacts the game – the addition of more things to do might just make this better than the original.
