Pokémon Trading Card Game Getting “Primal Clash” Expansion in February

TouchArcade Rating:

The popular Pokémon Trading Card Game is set to get a major expansion on February 4th, according to a report from IGN. The new expansion is called Primal Clash and is set to add a whopping 160 new cards to the game, including new Primal Reversions of existing characters like Primal Kyogre-EX and Primal Groudon-EX. Those are the only two Pokémon so far to have Primal Reversions, as introduced in the recent 3DS remakes Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

The expansion will also include twelve new Pokémon-EX cards. In addition to new character cards the Primal Clash expansion will also include two new theme decks, one called Earth’s Pulse and one called Ocean’s Core, as well as “twenty-five trainer cards, featuring four full-art rare Ultra cards and two Special Energies" according to IGN.

The physical card packs for Pokémon TCG come with digital codes so you can take your new physical cards into the digital world, and that should hold true for the Primal Clash expansion. That means you’ll be able to use them in the Pokémon TCG Online (Free) iPad client, which was released in the fall of last year. Look for the Primal Clash expansion in stores starting February 4th.
