The Five Nights at Freddy’s phenomenon continues, as Polygon has confirmed that a third entry in the popular horror game series is currently in production from developer Scott Cawthon. If you visit Cawthon’s official website you’ll be greeted with the teaser image seen below. However, reaching out via email will only end with an auto-reply where Cawthon urges “Please do not email me asking any questions about it. NO questions about FNaF3 will be read or answered!" It sounds like he’d really prefer to keep this one under wraps in order to preserve any surprises that are in store for fans of the series.
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s ($2.99) is still fairly new, having launched in September of last year. It quickly went viral and shot up the App Store charts to the number one position. Just a couple of months later the sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ($2.99) launched and has seen similar success. The popularity of the series has spawned all sorts of copycats, and I’ll be interested to see if the third game will also become a hit or if fans are suffering from Freddy fatigue. No release date has been announced other than 2015, and based on Cawthon’s email reply I wouldn’t expect many details to come out, but once we do know more about Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 we’ll definitely pass that info along to you.
