‘Clock Tower’ Creators Tease Upcoming Spiritual Sequel ‘NightCry’

The cult hit horror series Clock Tower has a spiritual successor in the works, and it’s coming to iOS. NightCry is an upcoming survival-horror game being developed by Nude Maker, a studio comprised of former veterans of Human Entertainment, who helped create the original horror series back before Human Entertainment closed down in 2000. The studio has released a live-action teaser of the game, formerly known as Project Scissors, which is directed by Takashi Shimizu, creator of The Grudge.

The Clock Tower series is particularly memorable for its horrifying Scissorman villains, and the teaser certainly teases that scissors will be involved – if the Project Scissors name wasn’t enough to tease that a Scissorman-type villain would be involved. It’ll be interesting to see how this one turns out. The game is planned for Vita along with iOS and Android, which could mean that this is a premium-priced title. And hey, survival horror has a paying audience with the Five Nights at Freddy’s ($2.99) series doing gangbusters. But what would be scarier than seeing a giant scissor-wielding maniac, and getting an IAP prompt that could possibly save you? Would you have the guts to say no?
