Early last year, Adrián Cardona and David Muñoz released a short film called Fist of Jesus. Short synopsis: Jesus performs a miracle by bringing Lazarus back to life, however things don’t go according to plan as Lazarus is resurrected as a killer zombie, and he immediately goes on a rampage turning everyone around him into killer zombies. The only answer: Jesus and his “loyal" friend Judas must fight back. The film is a hilariously over-the-top, campy throwback to gore-filled B-movies and kung fu flicks. Basically, it’s perfect for making a video game out of.
So that’s what developer Mutant Games did, and back in October the official video game of the short film Fist of Jesus: The Bloody Gospel of Judas was released on Steam. You may have even seen PewDiePie playing it. The Fist of Jesus game is a side-scrolling brawler that became notorious for its brutal difficulty as well as its butchering of the English language. It feels every bit as campy as the film, and as with most cult-hits, you either love it or hate it. Now all the terribadness of the Fist of Jesus game is heading to mobile, here’s an official trailer.
Personally, I love old-school side-scrolling brawlers and campy horror flicks, so Fist of Jesus seems like it will be right up my alley. I mean, how can you say no to beating the crap out of zombies with loaves and fishes, ripping off heads and tearing out hearts? Fist of Jesus: The Bloody Gospel of Judas will be hitting mobile this week, December 4th, and it will be free to play. It features 60 levels, a full upgrade system for your character, boss fights, and the ability to perform miracles. I’m very curious to see how it turns out, so if you are too check back later this week to get your own hands on Fist of Jesus the game.
Update: As Carter has helpfully pointed out, Fist of Jesus is already available in New Zealand, and apparently has been for the past month or so. You can get the game in the NZ App Store or join in on some discussion in our forums.
