Platforming games have always been a popular genre on iOS, and the first one that I really fell in love with was Team Phobic’s Bounce On ($1.99) way back in December of 2008. Coincidentally, it launched right at the same time as the original Rolando ($0.99). Both games felt truly native to the platform, as opposed to just a platforming game with virtual buttons slapped on top, and there was a lot of debate back in the day as to which game was the better “rolling" platformer. Personally I could go either way, but there’s something about Bounce On and its sequel Bounce On 2 ($3.99) that’s always held a special place in my heart.
Anyway, Team Phobic has long since moved on to newer projects and it seemed like the adventures of Bounce were over. Well, much to my surprise I received an email today from one of the co-creators of Bounce On who has announced that him and a few ex-Team Phobic people have started their own company called Iddy Biddy Games, and they’re reviving the Bounce On series with a third game in the series called Bounce On Back. Check out the trailer.
Like the transition from Bounce On to the sequel Bounce On 2, this latest game definitely looks to retain the original feel of the first games but takes things up a notch with new visuals and some clever new tricks like special abilities. Iddy Biddy is shooting to have Bounce On Back released by the end of the month, and I’m very excited to get my hands on a new entry in one of my all-time favorite series.
