Nimblebit’s ‘Golfinity’ Launching this Thursday

Just a few weeks ago, Nimblebit teased us with an announcement for a new game called Golfinity, which looked decidedly different from what we’ve come to expect from the developer. Golfinity is a simple, clean, endless mini-golfing game, and Nimblebit themselves describe it as “the baby of Desert Golfing ($1.99) and Monument Valley ($1.99). Now that is a wacky mashup I can get behind. Today, Nimblebit has announced that Golfinity is set to launch this week on November 13th.

One interesting aspect about Golfinity is its pay model. Nimblebit is known for having very inobtrusive free to play games, and this one will be free to play as well but with a slight twist: there won’t be any in-app purchases at all. It’s simply a completely free game with the option of retrying a certain hole by watching an ad. People have been getting pretty creative with using video ads in the monetization of their games (I’m looking at you Bitcoin Billionaire (Free)) so it’ll be interesting to see how that works out. Look for Golfinity to hit this Thursday for free.

This week's EP of The Simpsons also hit freemium games ('Clash of Candies').

Kind of ironic with the whole Simpsons game...

        Family Guy is next up.

Which is exactly why they did it. The game even has content FROM the episode! (Apart from all the pay options, the game is really nicely done.)

Procedural holes? Great idea. Never run out. And then if you really like a hole, knowing it's soon gone forever might inspire you to watch an ad and play it again. Interesting idea.

This could be very neat. The clean aesthetic kind of reminds me of (the wonderful) Wonderputt.

Reminds me of Marble Madness for the nes. God that game was frustrating.

Why in the world does an iOS gaming site use Flash video?

Has Nimblebit ever heard of data plans? Yes, I'm a cheapskate, but I just don't want a data plan with 10 GB, so I only have 500 MB instead. Which makes video ads an absolute no-go when not in the Wi-Fi at home.

So they should just be hobos and whore out the product of several months worth of work just to accommodate your gaming pleasure all for no benefit? Get a freaking job.

I'm probably earning more than you, but then I'd like to BUY a game instead of watching ads.

Then don't buy it and stop whining lol

I remember playing a game similar to this on the Apple IIgs, Zany Golf.
