Dungeon Raid ($0.99) is still one of my favorite games, but it hasn’t been updated since early 2011 and is really starting to feel old. Well, Darkin is setting out to offer an updated vampire-themed experience which feels a lot like the Dungeon Raid experience only… made this year:
Darkin is still in development, and hopefully sees a release soon. Bring on more puzzle games with RPG elements I say!

The text is so small !
Seriously I cant remember being this addicted to an IOS game in a long time! I am loving it.
This is how you do an interface for a roguelike. Almost zero time screwing around with menus. Easily my favorite of the genre right now.
Thanks for the review! I have it downloaded and will check it out soon. Quite a bit of roguelike games have come out in the last week. Plenty of fun to be had.
Wait, two great looking Roguelikes launched almost simultaneously!?!
How does this compare to the Quest for Dungeons?
imo this one is much better. q of d might look good, but the polish ends at the art. wonky movement, strange sticky targeting system, cumbersome menus, and no hi score list that is easy to access if it exists at all.
cq1 has been fixed on newer iphones for a while now :)
Really? That's excellent news!
you still get 2 though as it's better :p
Yes. I bought the first CQ a while ago but love CQ2. I just checked out the first one again and I agree with Shaun, still having an issue having to touch to the left of everything. That's OK though cause CQ2 is eating up most of my free time.
Hi Ido! On my 5S running 7.1, I'm still having the problem in CQ1 where I have to touch a half-inch to the left of everything to make it work.
Ug...thanks will look into it!
How is this dev going to make any money off this great game! I feel bad for having it for free so I will buy the $4.99 IAP but how many more people will do that and how does a dev live off of that....
That's what I was thinking; if you're used to rogue-likes, you'll probably make enough 'morale' to buy a second character in just one play through. If you put your mind to it, you can easily unlock all the characters in a day.
For this game, I seriously wouldn't mind if they added level packs that cost money.
Another great review, Shaun. CQ2 is a no brainer, people just need to download it. It has difficulty settings for more casual, non RL fans but still everything there for the RL fan. Beautifully designed game.
Playing it portrait with one hand may be okay for the iPhone, but it's not so great on my iPad 2 - my only complaint against this otherwise stellar roguelike. Oh, and I HATE hunger systems in this genre, they never feel fair and always feel futile when your character dies that way.
Loving this game. But what's with the controls! Do I really have to move my finger all over the screen? Would love to see the swipe-to-move controls of Sword of Fargoal here. Everything else is amazing!
i'm just slightly farsighted, but i find it extremely hard to read that text on my iphone5s, even with my brand new glasses. in addition to that, my thumb is mostly covering vast parts of screen content when navigating.
So exiting~!! Well made casual roguelike
