This past June, Square Enix released the latest entry in the critically-acclaimed Deus Ex series with the mobile-only title Deus Ex: The Fall ($4.99). Set right after the events that took place in the novel ‘Deus Ex: Icarus Effect’, and leading right into the timeline of events in 2011’s console release Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Fall did an outstanding job capturing the atmosphere and intrigue of the recent Deus Ex games and fitting it into a mobile, touchscreen-friendly package.
While overall a bit short, Deus Ex: The Fall is a fun experience while it lasts, and thanks to branching dialogue paths and the ability to play either stealthily or guns blazing, there was plenty of reason to play through it multiple times, which has definitely extended the games shelf life on my device. Check out our review of The Fall for the full scoop.
Anyway, all this is just to tell you that Deus Ex: The Fall is currently on sale for $4.99, down from its normal price of $6.99. In addition, a lite version has just been released which will give you a taste of the game in order to help you determine if it’s the sort of thing you want to throw down your monies for. In my opinion, it definitely is, as this is some of the most fun I’ve had with an FPS on the iOS platform.
Hopefully Squeenix and Eidos will get around to adding more content to the game in the near future, but if you skipped out on Deus Ex: The Fall before then definitely give the new lite version a try, and if you like it be sure to take advantage of the sale price for the full version.
