Late last month we told you how Ninja Theory, after previously working on high-profile console titles like Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, and Devil May Cry, were ready to dip their toes into the mobile scene with a new ’80s-themed brawler called Fightback. Here at E3 we had a chance to take a look at Fightback and were very pleasantly surprised. It nails the “80s action-hero" motif and Ninja Theory has developed an extremely simple but deceptively deep touch-based fighting system that is a total blast to play. Check it out.
I was worried about Fightback when I first saw it in action. Tap to punch and swipe to kick? That’s it? But, there is a lot more to it than meets the eye, and there’s a fantastic rhythm to ducking punches, countering with jump kicks, pulling out your souped-up weapon, and basically taking out hordes of thugs as just a single bad ass buff dude. Also I will never again simply press the button on an elevator, and instead will opt for punching it with all my might until sparks start flying. I love that.
Use that same sort of vigor to put Fightback on your TouchArcade (Free) Watch List and we’ll let you know when it hits the App Store this summer.
