IUGO, the makes of Toy Bot Diaries, have provided a preview of their upcoming game Shaky Summit. IUGO describes the game:
Join the Summit crew as they dash and clamber their way in a no-holes barred 3D race to the top! The goal is simple: touch the screen to cause boulders to loosen, stalactites to fall, and much more. Change between paths and avoid obstacles as you attempt to reach the top of the mountain before your opponent. Strategy is the key to success. Plan your shakes carefully so you don’t accidentally help your enemy. To shake, or not to shake: that is the question. Shaky Summit redefines light gaming, exclusively tailored to the iPhone.
Features listed by the company includes:
The video shows the game in 2 player mode, though we’re still finding it difficult to follow the exact gameplay strategy.
Yeah. this isn't a very exciting video, and it kind of looks like the game itself will be rather dull.
I dearly miss SimCity, having very much enjoyed it. I think the most recent one put too much emphasis in being able to follow sims around, when all I really wanted was to unlock out of the Isometric view. With a modern Graphics card, they could really do a nice one, with rolling smog and all sorts of neatsies.
I'll pay the $2 to try it out, but I'm not expecting much.
Can't wait! Have been anxiously awaiting SimCity and this looks just as good. I've been really disappointed with many of the iPhone games replay value (i.e. loved Spore the first time, but when I went to play it a 2nd time, it was really boring. Haven't played it since). This looks like it will have great replay value and some longetivity.
isometric view for the way!
i love simcity, but my favorite is simcity 2000, still the best one in series!
if this is somewhat similar to sc2k, that's a buy for sure.
aww pickles! just saw the video! and yes, it looks dull and bland... a turn-based simcity? hm not really my cup of tea... maybe i'll wait for v2.0..
The video looks boring, yes. Call me an optimist but these types of games take time to develop your strategy and become engaging. A video might not do it justice. Reviews, and little else, will tell.
Better get it before EA's abusive legal team goes after them.
Yeah, I bought this, and believe me, it's dull so far. After literally 10 minutes of playing I had over $100,000,000...there's no challenge. Nothing to bring you down. After racking up all the cash, I even put taxes up to 100% to see how it went...still had 10,000 people joining my city per turn. it's incredibly easy, and so far, only two maps to build on. And also, if you ever run low on money, it's as easy as hitting 'Next Turn' until you do...no penalty for it. I'd say buy it now for the low price, as I imagine it could be quite good in the future. Can't wait for version 2, or better yet, the official Sim City :)
I'll have to Agree with Sam. I also had a ton of cash after only a few minutes and there really is too little of a challenge in this early version of the game.
It looks great and it is fun for short breaks, but a little more depth would be welcome.
Just a few ideas:
More different kinds of buildings (I notices there aren't normal houses or a lot of different landmarks) of different grid sizes would be nice and a few disasters maybe to add to the experience. And penalties for taxes being to high and things like that. Also some landscaping tools fo add things like water/trees would be nice.
The Exit button should have an extra menu like "do you rally want to exit the game?" or something, I pressed the button a few times by mistake and while it saves your city it is a bit anoying.
It's not that I didn't ejoy the game, I just hope it gets a lot better with future versions :-)
