The original word puzzler, Imangi [App Store], from Imangi Studios is gaining high praise amongst early adopters.
Some have described it as a addictive cross between Scrabble and the Rubik’s Cube. The goal is simply to arrange the letters into as many words as possible, either horizontal or vertical. Letters can be aligned by moving rows and columns with a simple swipe of the finger. Boards are scored based on how many letters are used, with red letters counting extra.
While this is an accurate description of gameplay, it really is the gameplay video that makes you take notice:
Because I’m not an avid word puzzler, I can’t give you the most qualified recommendation. That being said, I very much enjoyed this game and I certainly recognize what appears to be a very original and effective game.
The developer plans to improve the high score system to include online leaderboards in a future version. At present screenshots of high scores can be submitted manually.
Certainly, if you love Scrabble, Crossword puzzles or any word games, Imangi is worth serious consideration.
