The concept of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) was created by German psychologist William Stern in 1912 as a tool for evaluating the mental maturity of children.
He found that the relationship between children's mental age (MA) and chronological (i.e. physical) age (CA) is constant and he termed this relationship "Intelligence Quotient" (IQ). IQ = 100xMA/CA.

With adults the concept has become a commonly used method in relation to e.g. military drafting sessions and general employment procedures, but it is also used for assessing brain damage, etc.
Furthermore, there are societies for people with a particularly high IQ of which Mensa (the top 2% of te population) is probably the best known.
In adults the IQ is calculated on the basis of known 'normal' level. The median value is set a 100 and the normal ranges from 90 to 110. The entrance level for Mensa members is 130.
One out of two people has an IQ below 100.
The level of difficulty of the questions increases gradually.
If you find two logical answers to one question you should choose the simplest answer.
Wrong answers do not influence your result - so guess rather than omit a question!
