One area of the game where we have been focusing heavily, is the Trench Defence section. This is where players can set up their machine gun position, squad and various defences, pre-battle. This is now fully 3D - and close to complete. Shown next is the forward defence grid with the various defensive items shown on the left. e.g. Mines, barbed wire, and tank traps. On the right is the info panel, which displays all the info and price of the item. Simply tap on the defence item you want to potion on the grid and it will appear there. In battle, players will see their defences in position. As well as defences, the player can also position their squad and arrange them tactically, based on their weapon and equipment loadout. Players also have the option to view their machine gun position, squad, and defensive set up from their in-battle PoV. Players can check out their sight lines in first person too. Players can also view the composition of the incoming waves, based on intel. You can zoom in and take look at the enemy types you will be facing and adapt you tactics accordingly. Bosses as show here too (although not always; when a portal is open, almost anything can come through) - note the range guides for the squad's weapons. The green lines are for the semi-auto. The yellow line is the shotgun, which has a much shorter range. The boss will need to be dangerously close for this weapon to in range. More to follow...
This the Campaign Map Meet your CO in the Campaign Room. Non Linear Campaign Z War 1's gameplay incorporates a non-linear, strategic campaign. Its up to players to figure out the best strategy to adopt per campaign... This feature will add a level of depth to the gameplay, not seen in most shooters on mobile. Players need to successfully take and then hold the territory on the map, and fight their way to the enemy HQ, to destroy it. However, the enemy AI is attempting to do the same. If the player loses their HQ, the campaign is lost. Enemy AI The AI has a range of personalities based on the character the player is fighting. Some will fight aggressively, and attempt to sweep across the map to the player's HQ. Some will be more defensive minded and position their resources to protect strategically important territories, containing Ruins with Portals, War Factories, airfields and bridges. Capture Territories The campaign will play out similar to version of Risk; the player can attack any of the territories they are next to. It's up to the player what strategy to employ and decide where they want to go. The map is split into neutral territories - 'Deadmans Land'; those not yet occupied by the Black Reverends forces, but still swarming with mindless shamblers, creepers, giant rats and occasional mud golem, or worse, and the player must clear these out to take it. Green player occupied, Red is enemy occupied with a substantial number of armed units. Enemy Strongholds: War Factories | Portal Sites | Airfields | Artillery Batteries Also indicated on the map are key enemy strongholds; these generate additional re-enforcements, after so many battles, and these will be distributed into adjoining territories. - If its a War Factory, the units will composed of mechanised units and more Z Troopers. This will affect the number of waves the player faces and its composition. If its a Portal site and its open, the player will face monstrous enemies at much greater frequency. If the player can capture the territory with the portal, and destroy it, the monsters will stop spawning. Likewise with the War factory, armoured units will appear less frequently, and the player may be able capture an arms cache of prototype / previously unavailable weapons. Attritional Combat The campaign is highly attritional; even if the player, or AI wins, the other will have inflicted losses on the other, and this will be carried over, from fight to fight. For the AI, it must wait to be re-enforced. For the player, wounded squad members will need to be healed, and new soldiers recruited to replace the dead, and new equipment bought to replace lost items...
I just got into the beta! Check you’re emails you might have too. Not for sure if everyone got it yet though.
Sorry for the delay - yes beta is underway and we are running it batches. good to see you guys are in. For anyone else, please check your mail for invites and updates. We're bug fixing and updating as we go, so apologies if it's a little rough around the edges in places... Please bear with us.
Hi, I’ve played this and absolutely LOVE it so far! I love that you have to equip soldiers and stuff it’s a really good mechanic I think.
I also love how there’s strategy involved where I have to capture territory. I think that’s also amazing! I’d suggest possibly being able to reposition in the trenches so say you’re guys to the right died you could take their place in the trench.
Ah boo nothing so far and I checked the junk folder in case it was trapped by the spam filter, will have to wait and hope am added in the next wave
Stelph, let me check we have you. it is possible that you're in the next batch. Pls add your mail here so I can check.
Cooper04 - actually, you can re-position your squad. tap Squad + RT button. You will see the the squad + weapon range guides. Tap and hold the squad member you want to change, until they turn blue. Then tap the position you want swap. it can be a little glitchy... we will fix it New squad members need to be added from the roster on the left. tap and drop. (Eventually, this will be automatic when there is a trench position open) Hope this is helpful. Keep the feedback coming!
I’d checked a while back and th join site said I was already signed up so I assume I’m in the next batch
What will this games age rating be? 12+ I’m hoping. But I noticed the soldiers said “bast*rd” so I’m worried apple might rate it M.
I might have been playing this a lot recently... Also how do classes work? I only had the normal people no medics.
Just a little bit! Well done! Did you find the gameplay too easy, or about right? The Beta is really just a 'taster' of what's to come... and see if anyone wants to and likes playing ZWar1 . The class system isn't fully implemented yet. In the near future you will have access to medics , and chaplains (who can use relics and blessed weapons), and later, weapon and CQC specialists. There will also be heroes, with unique weapons and abilities, and you can recruit these into your squad. Basically, as you rank your troops up, you unlock the class system, then you can elect which class to promote your squaddie into.
think we will be ok with mild language - but you never know. if it's a problem we just switch out the VO
