How is this upsetting? It seems like some of the people on this site are blind Apple loyalists. So what if another company is competing with a product similar to Apple's? That's how progress begins: through competition. I think it's exciting to see companies compete, since they can push each other to create newer, better things in search of money.

If Microsoft creates a better product, I will gladly switch to it. I'm not loyal to a company, I'm a consumer, I go for the best things available.

Am I the only one who thinks it is UGLY??? the screen is amazing, i am sure, since they are touting HD and OLEDs, but the device itself is very complex, boxy, and constructed. I mean, you can even see the huge screws! I mean, the ipod touch looks smooth and natural. Curved back, all glass front which nicely blends the screen with the device and the home button. It is overall, much more appealing. Plus the apps and device's power! The only portable I would ever buy from Microsoft is a portable Xbox, since it seems games are the only thing Microsoft can get right! Mp3 players, Computer OS, Phones, web browsers, innovation... EPIC FAIL by Microsoft, EPIC WIN by Apple.

My black Zen has frozen a ridiculous amount of times. It would freeze, I'd hard restart it, and then it'd freeze again. It's pretty much unusable until the battery drains. The sound quality was definitely better, though. I'd still be using it if it weren't for my touch. Haven't had any trouble with my iPod, though. Screen's never blacked out. The only time it's frozen is when I made a MASSIVE nuke in iShoot, but that's about it.

All first generation devices are sucky. Kinks are still being worked out, power and potential is still being gauged and measured. It's like evolution. The next gen models are always a little closer to perfection. They never will be quite there, but it's their goal.

the ipod was better than the zune, the itouch Iphone is better than the new zune...
but dont start believe this because of some copy cat excuse. microsoft is crap no dout about it, but zo what if they're upgrading to a touch screen, its the next level. its just the way things are going. Might as well say everyone stands on the shoulders of giants. wheres the harm in zune having such a cool feature as a touch screen...zune is cheaper thats the only benefit and thats something that apple can never Itouch. lol

Just some more info from the officially released statement from microsoft...
    · Zune HD comes with a built-in HD Radio receiver so users can listen to higher-quality sound than traditional radio on the go. Users also will have access to the additional song and artist data broadcast by HD Radio stations as well as additional channels from their favorite stations multicasting in HD. If you don't like the song playing on your station's HD channel, switch to its HD2 or HD3 channels for additional programming.

    · The bright OLED touch screen interface allows users to flip through music, movies and other content with ease, and the 16:9 widescreen format display (480x272 resolution) offers a premium viewing experience on the go.

    · The HD-compatible output lets Zune HD customers playback supported HD video files from the device through a premium high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) audiovisual docking station (sold separately) direct to an HD TV in 720p.*

    · Zune HD will include a full-screen Internet browser optimized for multitouch functionality.

    · Zune HD is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing for instant streaming to the device from the more than 5 million-track Zune music store.

More information on Zune and related images is available at http://www.zune.net/press and http://www.zune.net/ZuneHD.

What does it mean "optimized" for the browser part? A bit copying lately Microsoft? jk but reading from those specs it really sound like a somewhat of a copycat/ patent infringer.

So, in a nutshell, it's a Microsoft version of the iPod touch plus an HD screen minus the AppStore. Thing is, Apple has a generation lead on them with this technology. There's no way they'll be able to replicate near the same success, but maybe that's not what they're set out to do?

Well imo they are trying to generate success. However they do have their own type of app store (google it) but the zune has a bad name to it already. While the ipod has penetrated the market extremely deeply. I don't know though, time will tell.

Dang, that certainly looks nice. However, I do admit a big reason for my iPod Touch is the games/apps, so if this Zune HD doesn't have that, I don't think I'm really going to get much use out of it.

Right Microsoft does have their "App Marketplace" coming out but who knows how much stuff will be developed for it. We don't even know if it is going to be on the zune. Currently independent people make games for the zune on their own. According to my friend who's got a zune half of them don't even work.

K, after I said "I'll be getting one" or what ever I said. I've came to my senses and realized WTH I'm a Apple person Not some Microsoft person.
Anything with the word "Microsoft" in the phrase, suck imo.
3rd gen iPod touch All the way baby! WOOT!
Props to microsoft for a good looking product though.
