Not currently..... NPC's are in the works...not sure if you'll be able to "team up" with them, per se, but you will be able to interact with them in various ways. I've had a few "end game" ideas, but right now I'm leaning towards "open, with quests". Yes, it's HP and I've turned godmode on. Making the head bloodier (and maybe sadder?) as you lose HP is a great idea though!
I think having a definitive ending would be better then keeping things open to explore (ending might unlock challenge areas or new content). If begging to be included in the beta has begun then count me in.
Lots of new Zombox updates this week! Here's a sample of the changes: -broken bridges, dead end streets and building fences added to the environment. -lots of new items added to the world, including rotten/fresh food items, ripped/clean clothing items. The stats of each item is dependent on its quality. A rotten apple, for example, will not replenish as much HP as a fresh one. The game now features over 650 unique items to find and purchase. -eating/drinking functionality has been added to the inventory panel, and animations corresponding to each action are triggered when you feed your character -stats are displayed in numeric form in the inventory window -an HP bar pops up momentarily for anything (props or zombies) damaged in the world, so you can see how many hit points it has left -the main character now gets bloody when injured. Here are some images and an animated .gif showing these new features:
More updates to Zombox this week! -XP system -Medkits/ammo items -inventory GUI updated to show ammo counters Here are two .gif animations and an image showcasing the above changes:
I've thought about this, and may head in this direction. That being said, I don't think I'd make it so that when the game is over, it's literally over and you must start fresh to continue, but I may add a main objective which you're lead to from smaller objectives, that can be accomplished to move an over-arching plot forward.
I like the idea of unlocking more if the game is completed. I like games that allow you to go back and explore further as well as Evan more achievements and such. Really looking forward to this game.
Is the game in Alpha? It looks amazing and I am extremely excited because this looks really good. Do you have a blog that I can visit to see the news, other than TA?
The game is in Alpha, yes Here is a link to the Zombox Devblog, where you can see all progress on the game since its inception in May. Also, I post all update announcements to the Zombox Twitter, so you can follow it to keep up to date.
Glad to see you implemented the dying face. More questions: will items have durability? I.e dead rising? Can you attach stuff to your guns? Like a red dot sight for accuracy? Or a silencer? What if, maybe, loud sounds, like gunshots, would attract zombies? And for the end, what if you got out of the city, the game ends, and then you get a free roam in the city? Glad to hear from you again, was getting worried. Ooh, and beta testing?
Currently, no to both. Could be something I add in the future, though. In the next week(s), the zombie AI is being completely overwritten. The game will have a focus on stealth and zombies will only attack that which they can see/hear. Weapons that make loud noises will attrack them, but if you're quiet you can sneak around. Yea, this is sort of what I've been thinking
