Looks great so far! I'd just like to suggest adding hands to the gun models. For some reason, it just makes a game look that much better when you can see your character's hands holding the gun. Great job, though! Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
If you want this game to be like GTA, i suggest some survivors (Pedestrians) and if you run away but Zombies are following you, the zombies infect the Pedestrians and they turn to Zombies. And maybe the ability to drive cars over Zombies, maybe even rescue some survivors etc.
I am not doing the GTA type game now. It's going to be separate levels with waves of zombies. A lot less ambitious but probably smarter if I want to finish it this year. If this does well I may spend more time on a game with a story and quests.
Damn are those shadow effects faked or are they shader based and use OpenGL 2.0. The wave-based thing sounds fine, but graphics that really push the 3rd and 4th gen GPUs are what I want.
The shadows are shader based and required OpenGL 2. No faking! It's just like you see in modern console games but the hardware doesn't support PCF (percentage closer filtering) so no soft edges on the shadows. For the ambient lighting I'm using ambient occlusion and raytraced baked lighting.
LOL I'm thinking of other scenerios, such as defending your farm, your house in the suburbs, or your hot dog stand in the city.
The game has been renamed to Zombies : The Last Stand. Please use the new thread over here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=68948
