Thanks. I've been meaning to get back to the original, but have heard that 3 is the best in the series. Doesn't look like my refund for this processed yet, but when it does I might have to pick it up.

Edit: Urggh. Looks like CR 3 still has some issues with iOS 9. That's my one issue with Square Enix...they're slow to fix stuff with new iOS versions. The original Chaos Rings also sounds like it has problems.

Not sure about the issue but overall square enix is pretty good at updating their games. I have no issues but I know there is a problem. Maybe pick up dragon quest 8 or this war of mine.

I usually don't post comments about mobile games. However, I am strongly compelled to do so for this game.

This is a game that I feel like I should love (JRPG with gorgeous art!), I kept trying (very very hard) to love it and to enjoy it. I gave it way more time than it actually deserves because I thought I might have hit the treasure if I kept digging. In the end, I feel that it's barely a game, just a really gorgeous painting.

Story is non-existent, combat is surprisingly shallow (and snail paced, a lot of the boss battle or even trashes, you know you will win for sure, but it just takes so damn long. It feels like the game doesn't respect your time), character build looks interesting at the first glance, but there isn't any real difference in how you spend your job points. Basically each class has three trees that you can invest into. The thing is, they are pretty much the same. I can't help but to wonder how did the super talented artist of this game teamed up with such crappy game designers. Again, I have to give the art team credit, the art is breathtaking in this game.

Oh and in battle, there is no impact sound when you attack. No, I am not kidding. I can't remember any RPG (even the really shitty ones) that doesn't have this. Again, I don't know what the developers were thinking when they made this decision. Maybe the lead designer is deaf?

Anyway, I am totally disappointed with Kobojo for releasing a half baked mess at $9. That's just shameless business practice in my book.

More rant: and the whole weapon craft/upgrade system is pointless/cumbersome. UI is poorly designed. Content wise, it's laughable. 75% of things are missing/locked as of now, and they have the guts to rob me $9?? This is the first time and the last time I will consume anything from Kobojo.

To the artist who worked on this game, You guys ROCK! But you really need to team up with more capable game designers.

I feel like the last 30 pages of this forum is about refunds and how bad this game is. Respect to the artists and marketing team for building so much hype. I wonder who in the process dropped this ball. I'm giving this game the biggest disappointment of 2015. The Stars couldn't even predict how bad this was going to be!

This cry-baby review is enough to make me download this game! I love it when people try to project importance into pointless things to convince people they have deep insight & can break things down and teach us about life! This is a common JRPG game. The story has been done a thousand times! The question is do you like the battle & level-up system.

Point simply being, this is a video game with a typical story. Let's not pretend we are so deep or games are so important that we discuss society in games & game reviews.

No, the question is do we feel a buggy, un-polished, incomplete game that was NOT advertised as episodic is worth $9?

Absolutely right! My references were really to the review. It isn't what it should be for sure. But what it is, is a JRPG. Let's hope there are some huge updates!!!!

Gotcha. I never really had high hopes for the story so the racism trope doesn't really bother me, but to each their own. That complaint is so minor compared to the other glaring shortcomings of the game.

If you're a fan of football simulation games it's major awesome! Best on App Store by a mile! The iPad version has more so if you have the option to get the iPad version it's a no brainer but the phone version is great too. you can control so many aspects from tactics and formations to signing players and loaning players getting players on loan. It like this war of mine will eat your time up :)
Sad that on this thread we are talking about other games but it's reality that the titanic is splitting in half and sinking fast!

To be fair, I didn't think it was THAT bad. But when you have pedigree that has worked on Final Fantasy games (didn't the writer work on FF VII), it definitely was a disappointment. The game itself had promise but bugs should have been squashed and just more time in QA period.

But the icing on the cake was the sudden ending and misleading advertising. Not to mention the astoundingly few classes out of the 12 or so there was supposed to be.

The game needed more time in the oven and a better approach if they wanted it to be episodic.

The thing with the two big names they got is that neither of them have anything to do with the game's design. Nojima is a story writer, and he wrote a very Nojima story for the game. It's funny that he's up on such a pedestal with some, as even his most famous works (FF7, Kingdom Hearts) are giant messes with *hammmmfisted* narratives. FUN giant messes, mind you, but he's no Yasumi Matsuno by any means. Hitoshi Sakimoto is a wonderful composer, of course, but he's just the composer.

The gameplay, the design, was entirely on Kobojo, and while I think this is probably the best thing they've ever released, their lack of experience in the genre, apparently limited budget, and lack of confidence in the pay model they designed the game around all came together into a game that has a lot of interesting ideas that don't seem like they were fully teased out and tested properly. And yes, they were very misleading in how they presented the game. I assume that wasn't intentional, but it still burns anyway.

I was holding out hope that the rest of the game, as well as bug fixes, would be pushed in an update. But after reading the new article on TA, I just asked for a refund. I hate doing that, but I feel very mislead. And with all the problems, the game just wasn't fun for the little time I put into it. If they ever finish it, and offer it at a price that it's worth, I may rebuy it. But I'm not holding my breath.

I agree here it's not like nojima is really any good FF7 is a fun game and with kingdom hearts. The stories for both are subpar

The thing that annoyed me the most was the price with 9 classes missing and a incomplete story. The premium mislead was bullshit too. I doubt I will ever buy another game from this dev. The only thing I like was the app icon art

I agree with the subpar story in FFVII I jumped on it having not played it in years and of course being older I got the story more and it's very subpar for FF game but the gameplay is freaking awesome. This story in this game was straight racist too which caught me by surprise! I read carters article and was surprised he didn't mention it and if he did I forgot it. I will say it again I apologize for defending this game early on as I was in denial.
I would also add I don't think there will be anymore content do the math everyone is getting a refund so they would go broke doing it. I have never seen a game get so many refunds and a lot of first timers getting it too, shocking! If this game stays around it will go FTP.

Agreed 100 percent on the above no extra content will be added and this will turn to FTP garbage! I just don't understand how management thought this was ready for release. I feel like kobo customer service won't come back to comment here after all the negative backlash

And to finish your thought why would they its a lost cause now. They have to be mad at themselves some too but this App Store market is no joke and the customers have been feeling cheated lately w games going away etc. what ticket to ride just did was bs and if you go look at the pocket Version it now has a one star rating. Now here is another big thing the App Store can make you tons of money but it can also cost you your arse. Gamers on the App Store have been ripped off enough and at first sign of dishonesty they will tear you to shreds and it's game over. I was feeling bad for them until they came back with the new IAP would cost more money and that would be fine if the game itself was actually worth the 9$ paid. No sympathy from me now.
