This isn't so much a response to what YOU are saying but after seeing this concern reiterated so many times...I don't get why so many people are tripping about the Potential Possibility of a game changing from premium to Ftp... It's very hard for developers to go that route. They still do it, sometimes, because they are broke and need the money. Kobojo have started off premium, and it is in their interest to keep it that way..though, it might make sense to go ftp in Asian markets or something because they are different and a whole 'bother bag. US customers are different. What we do know is that the developer is being reasonably responsive. We need chill out, wait, and see what their follow through is like. This is kind of reminding me of Fox News. One person makes a comment and then someone else uses that to legitimize "people are saying" and try to make something more than it is. It feels like that in this thread... I understand disappointment—there was legitimate excitement about this game, and it didn't meet expectations yet. I am not going to invest in hope or despair at this point—I'll wait for the update and see what it bodes.
I feel like the bigger issue is that the original advertising for the game feels deceptive. People don't like feeling like they were duped. There was no indication that this was "Episode 1" (I do realize they did end up changing the App Store description, but this was not stated originally). People expected a full game for $9 and they didn't get it, and there has been no indication if that $9 purchase includes ONLY Episode 1, or if it would include Episode 2, 3, etc. The fact that the developer has completely dodged this specific issue is worrisome. Though I'm annoyed, I don't plan on getting a refund like many others. However, if they decide to charge for Episode 2 I will be legitimately pissed. I'm willing to hold on to hope but I completely understand others wanting a refund.
Just read over on the Zodiac forums that they ARE going to charge for future episodes. This combined with the problems in the game may push me over the edge to refund. They weren't upfront about this and the way the current content ends is more like a sudden stop like they didn't have time to finish it and not as if it was the end of an "episode".
Look at my posts I'm the biggest defender of this game on this thread. I am now bowing out as I can't accept the paying for future episodes as that's very deceptive. I took that money and got Football Manager Mobile 16 same price diff is it's a complete game. Sorry guys I tried to stick it out and let this be a lesson to devs and the like. When we pay a premium price we want a premium game! like I said above took the same amount of money and got a very quality completely finished game. This is only my 3rd time getting a refund and this time it actually made me feel bad the others didn't cuz they were rip offs. Well about to be 4 I jumped on that Karnov game thinking it was th real thing and it's not and it sucks.
I took the money and bought war of mine which is also complete. First time ever asking for a refund as well.
This thread started off so well, just like the Titanic... I won't bother with a refund here, whoever did the art deserves to get paid at least. What I will do is learn a valuable lesson about trust. And for their own sake, I hope Kobojo learns from this saga as well.
I still love the basics of this game and can still defend paying that initial price however charging for more episodes when the original is just incomplete / buggy? That certainly puts me off. I'll keep the game because I still like it but I'm definitely am wary of them now that I see that this could end up being the price of a brand new console game but just way buggier and incomplete. I also dislike the quick update system. At first glance it seems awesome but actually it allows them to update the game whenever they want which makes me feel like I have no control over it. It's half an online game in a sense. I could've sworn my app was at 1.6-1.7gb when I started playing. Now it's at 1.9. I'm confused what it's downloading (you can tell when the game takes a long time to start up) that's hundreds of mb and makes no difference to the game as far as I can see.
I'm sad to say that I've also asked for a refund - my first ever, and I've have an iPad since 2010. Kobojo, I don't know if you receive a copy of the ticket that is submitted to Apple, so I'll summarize what I wrote to Apple below with the hopes that it may help with future releases. This game has the potential to be a very good game, but I'm very disappointed with the bugs, lack of communication, and the direction that I see this game is heading. The game is buggy. I've tried the game on four different devices, and I've encountered several crashes and game breaking bugs. For my online account, I encountered a bug where I don't have Kadyn in the prison, which makes it near impossible (if not impossible) to complete the level (the key boss simply stuns too often and does too much damage). To make matters worse, somehow my character is now stuck in the blue zone and all the doors are closed. I'm unable to ask the guard for a key as he only gives the trouble joke dialog. On the game's technical support page, it stated that I should submit a ticket to reset my account (though this statement is now absent from the webpage). I submitted a ticket, but was told that this was in fact not possible and that I would have to create a new account using a new email. I wasn't too keen to create a new email as I'm sure that I would lose the information for the new account, which would cause additional problems in the future. I've never gone past the prison so perhaps the bugs decreased as the game progressed. I don't expect a game to be bug free, and have thoroughly enjoyed and supported buggy games (which were eventually fixed), but I would much rather receive a response stating "we're working on it and hope to have a patch for this in the next week or two" rather than "create a new email account, try again, and hope that the bugs don't reoccur - we wish you the best of luck". The lack of communication has been astounding. My strong impression is that when the comments about the game were positive, the developers were happy to participate; however, once people started questioning the content and bugs, the communication dried up. This behavior was very prominent here, but the trend is also noticeable on the developer's own forum. I believe that a lot of concerns that people had could have been quickly addressed with a simple comment stating that they recognized the problems and then outlined what they were doing to address them. The silence was very frustrating and in my experience when developers go silent it's because they moved on. A real driving point for me is the uncertainty of the future of the game. It's not clear to me what is being addressed and what I should expect in the future - should I hang in for the long haul? When a game is only 25% finished, that's a big deal. Are the bugs being addressed? Will I ever be able to reset my account? How many "chapters" should I expect? I'm not confident at the moment that Kobojo has the ability or the desire to really bring this game to fruition. Lastly, I'm concerned about where this game is heading and whether the developers will be honest about the future. The game was advertised as a complete game - there was no mention on the apple store nor on Kobojo's website that this was the first installment of the game. Kobojo has since amended the iTunes store description to mention that there will be another installment in 2016, but nowhere does it state that this will be an IAP. Nowhere on the iTunes page are IAPs mentioned and the IAP button is not active. I believe the developers are purposely being misleading do drive sales. I certainly don't shy away from apps where you can purchase additional chapters and have purchased plenty. The difference between those other games and this game is that the other games I've played have complete, fully contained chapters that have standalone story arcs. Though I haven't completed this game due to bugs, I'm hearing that this is not the case for Zodiac. What does the future hold for this game? Should I expect another $8.99 "chapter" with 1-4 classes released and no standalone story arc? Kobojo, each installment should be like a book within the Chronicles of Narnia, not a few chapters from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I'm sorry Kobojo - I was very excited about this game. I wish you gave me a reason to continue being excited about the future.
This has to be one of the first times I ever seen a editors choice game be such a disappointment across the board. The titanic analogy suits this game
Good choice I already had it This war of mine is an experience unlike any game I've played. Sucks you in and it's hard to put down.
Spot on Lymphocyte. It truly is ashame as I still do feel the game had a lot of potential. I could even deal with most of the bugs. But the unfinished game and IAP deal was the nail in the coffin for me. If the game was epic in story with lots of polish, all classes open, a satisfying ending for each installment AND the developers had been upfront about the game's future, it maybe would be worth $9 and like $5 for additional chapters. I would have no problem paying even $25 total for everything if it was a AAA experience. I actually like the gameplay a lot. But even the story is pretty barebones and not captivating enough to make me want to see what happens next. There's talent here. But it failed in execution. I'd be better off buying one of the Final Fantasy ports even if I've played them.
Yeah it's very addicting and glad I got it. At first I had no idea what I was doing but now getting the hang of it. But war of mine is the kind of premium service I expect in a game. How is football manager?
Get chaos rings 3 if you haven't already. Honestly not the best port fit FF7 or DQ8 even FF6. If looking for a Zelda type rpg oceanhorn is great
Had top request refund in this case, just left a really bad taste in my mouth. I acknowledge there's a lot of potential here, but not worth the price point at this stage. Picked up fmh, which appears to be more/less a reskin of last year at first glance.
Does Chaos Rings 3 require you to have played the other games? I bought the original game long ago and probably played about half way through before an iOS update broke it.
No chaos rings 3 is a stand alone story. So you don't need to play one and two to understand. I really like 3 and so this must TA people.
