Yeah my experiences with the game( while beautiful and what I love in combat ) being an incoherent, incomplete mess and this thread has soured me on the game too. Gonna be attempting to get my money back since they were so misleading with initial descriptions and it basically missing an ending.
Despite my misgivings I will give Kobojo a bit of time to rectify the game, considering their office was near the Paris attacks. Also not really surprised they haven't written another response here yet, given that the weekend just ended, with the work day just about to start over in W. Europe. Hopefully today or tomorrow we will get a response.. But seeing how quiet the official forums are aside from the complaint threads doesn't bode well I'm afraid. In the meantime I decided to download Tales of Hearts R from the Japanese App Store. As much as I want to play it in English, buying a PSP or a console isn't an option so my only real choices are the meh nds era Tales games or playing the Japanese version since ToHearts is JP exclusive. Sure, I have to follow a walkthrough, but I've been having fun with the game so far only a few hours in. This is my first Tales game I've played personally, so I'm finding the real time RPG/fighting battle system interesting. I've seen others play Tales games before and it certainly looks easier than it actually is.
I just hope to god they fix the battle sound effects. That would add so much to the polish of the game like everyone said
Yes, total agreement on the need for battle sound fx. Would greatly add to the ambiance of a battle. Sadly, the devs have already stated that they have no such intentions. Without it just makes battles kinda blah.
So that's in Japanese? Sad, since the app description is in all English and the languages say English, Japanese.
That's still pretty crappy though. They didn't advertise the unfinished game. They advertised it as 100% complete and if it isn't, it should've been pulled down and addressed by now.
Wish the developers would come back here to address the issues of where the game is going. Is the rest of the content on the way? Will all the classes be made available? There was a story over on Pocket Gamer with the dev answering FAQ about complaints about the game like ability to save anywhere. But I'd also like to know what to expect as far as content updates. I'm actually enjoying the game, but it should have been held to be a more complete product.
I agree 100 percent with above feel the same enjoying the game but a lot of people would be at ease if the devs would confirm the future content
That is.... So stupid. Why do they have them talking in the cut scenes then. Kinda wish I didn't buy this when it came out cause I just started playing I last night.
I don't think the game is nearly as bad as it sounds. And TA's review was way too harsh IMO. I do feel like the game was released in an incomplete state so just hope the developers can get it back on track. The game, particularly the combat, is fun and the artwork is fantastic, so there's definite promise there. That said, if you haven't bought the game yet, I'd just hold off but don't lose all hope. There's talent here. Let's just hope they see it through.
I didn't even realize TA had a review up. Just seeing the comments on this thread, I can tell the game would annoy me and I have so many other games I'm trying to catch up on that *don't* annoy me. It's just a shame because it looks so pretty...and has a gryphon!
Worst part about this s game is that it's not that bad, but it's miles away from worth the asking price. Given all the assets that are in place, it is particularly disheartening to think of how a little more polish and a few things added could have made this an epic monster. Also, doesn't bode well for the dev team, as their reputations are on the line and in the end we don't so easily forget after they take our $.
TA review isn't fair in my opinion it's certainly not 5 stars at the moment and it has potential to be. I like a lot of things about this game and have been defending it on here because I believe more content and things to come will make it better. I haven't even began to care about the plot to be honest first play through I just wanted to learn the combat explore etc and then start a new game and get the story but now I'm gonna wait to see an update and then reset to get the story. by the way anyone can get a refund if they don't like a game I have had to do this a couple times recently and it's very easy to do and so far I haven't been turned down from getting it. With this one I'm not gonna wait it out as I mike the core gameplay.
