It's not our place to speculate on the swiftness of the App Store approvals :)

In a way. It has all the same levels and more, but they have been visually upgraded, some slightly tweaked (just small changes in the 3D models so they play nicer with the rope) and many have been re-introduced with the new paint bomb mechanics.

ZB2 has more levels, more varied gameplay, more music, a better user interface, wider device support and achievements. I know which one I'd choose if I didn't have both already ;)

    > Zen Bound 2 has all the 76 levels from Zen bound 1
    > It has over 100 levels with an addo gameplay – Paint Bombs
    > The ipad only now title is awaiting a universal update so makes it playable on smaller iPads
    > 45 mins of Ghost monkey music
    > Tree of Tribute, featuring guest stars from independently developed iPhone games
    > Zenbound was never lower than $1.99

    Sounds like a NEAT deal

Yes... iPod touchs & iPhones :D

I missed one more point... ZenBound is also available @ the same price
This can be the Deal breaker for a few.

I think I kno wht Secret exit is doing here...
They want to sell their games from their iTunes account, not from chillingo's actually Chillingo gave them the exposure & all that, kinda sad tactic in the run for the money,
Having said that... I think the price is going to go down if this does not attract many ppl to buy zenbound 2 for secret exit as they would have speculated

I think I am talking what is not good for their business, but what they are doing is unethical, not really sure if Chillingo is charging them too high or something?

All this is happening on Page 13!

Unethical? If secret exit think they can make more money withought going through chillingo (who take a cut of the profits), why would they? There is no ethical issue in there.

On anouther note... Apple is taking the living piss!

    unethical....
SE had went to chillingo to get zenbound out on the iDevices, not the other way round

now that zb is a hit & SE is a known dev. they made this move.
how is selling the agreed upon content (zb) without chillingo in te form of zb2 not unethical?

You don't have enough information to jump to such conclusions.

Not at all unethical. Buisness is buisness, no one is being exploited. SE went to chillingo because at that point they were unknown. Now they are a known developer it's fair enough that secret exit want to publish their own game and not have chillingo taking a cut.

Chillingo is a capable partner for developers who do not wish to burden themselves with the marketing of their games. However, we were self-publishing before Zen Bound, and have been continuing to do so with our games (Stair Dismount Universal, Zen Bound 2 on iPad) ever since.

Your comments about unethical choices are perhaps coming out of confusion regarding a publisher's role on the App Store (and some of your assumptions are false, publishers approach developers just as developers approach publishers). Zen Bound and Zen Bound 2 have been developed and funded entirely by Secret Exit, and we own all rights to the game, concept and name. Traditionally publishers fund the development and own the intellectual property, reducing the developer simply to a work-for-hire company. This is seldom the case on the App Store.

A publisher's role on the App Store for indies is simply a marketing/publicity agency, and as such we could have chosen any publisher for Zen Bound 2 to do marketing for us (assuming they'd want to, of course!) if we had not chosen to handle that responsibility ourselves. So there's no foul play nor bad guys to be found on either side in this story.

Why we want to self-publish, it's simple: we prefer to handle our own visibility, be known as a studio that makes high quality games and speak to both media and you guys on the forums directly.

As for ZB2, the work we've put into the game is more than it took to make the first game. It is bigger, better, more beautiful and more varied than the original title. We're proud of how it looks and plays, and when the update gets approved, I hope everyone who sees the difference will agree with our claims :)
