I found this to be quite surprising. Gamefaqs had a "Best Game of the Decade" tournament where visitors of the page nominated and voted for all the best games released in the past decade (2000 - 2009). The winner turned out to be The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Now I know these polls and tournaments are more popularity based than anything, but I still found intriguing that, of all possible games, Majora's Mask won. I mean, Majora's Mask is secretly the GOAT, but I haven't seen so much love for it until recently. Here's the full list of games that were taken in consideration for this contest: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html Man, for those who haven't played it, Majora's Mask is a true masterpiece and a classic. I could write paragraphs about it, but I'm just gonna say that this game has a better, more mature and dark story than most games out there. Add to that outstanding level design and memorable art and music and you have one of the best adventures of all time.
I agree for sure. One of the all time best games to me. It did so much right, it puts a lot of modern games to shame.
never much cared for Majora's Mask it is probably my least favourite Zelda game - as for Best Game of the Decade for me that would be Deus Ex.
MM is significantly more fun. The challenges, different masks, etc. I recently repurchased a Nintendo 64 and plugged in OoT (which I bought remembering that I liked it more than MM), only to find that it made me want to play Majora's Mask even more.
Don't tell me that getting the Couple's Mask wasn't one of the best/ most rewarding missions in video game history.
+1. OoT was amazing to play all the way through. Not super hard, but amazing. MM was a lot harder to complete, and the story was more complex. I also LOVED the masks. Gave a reason to come back to the game. It's a tie for me... Although OoT has more nostalgic memories.
As far as Majora vs Ocarina, I can see why some people prefer one over the other and vice-versa. Both compliment each other. Ocarina of Time, since it was first, was more revolutionary, magical and "new". Majora's Mask has considerably better story, design, gameplay and the time mechanic was pure genius. Also, MM has one of the best, thickest atmospheres I've experienced in a game. Damn, I need to play it again. There are so many memorable moments in this gem.
