Glitch: (not that important) When in landscape, the opening titles don't scroll down enough so you miss the end. Only can see in portrait. Also every time you change from portrait to landscape, opening scrolls start over
That's a Quest engine glitch. I think it's always been like that in the original version. Thanks. I will mention it to Elendil but he has no plan of changing the old engine.
Is everyone doing all right with the monsters? Or do you think you need more gold in the standalone version to buy potions? If you mark and recall to Liz in the Ancients' Temple, you can replenish your potions. There are also potion sellers in many different locations. The spellbooks of Mark and Recall should be on shelves in that temple.
Chiung says "I >have sweated< over each item until it >is< perfectly made." I don't know if the sentence is okay or not. If it's correct and I'm just not used to something, lemme know. Homemade potions don't seem to be in order yet. Grape Wine brewed in a mortar gives 0 turns of Endurance bonus for one. Is there a problem with Fortify hp? Iron Studded and Embellished armors aren't useful. One should have 15 Ac, the other 20. Bethor's Rod should be fragile if this strong. Quality 1000. Add a bonus to mind magic (or other magic) to make it a very unique and useful item. Many of the crafted items should be like this, I think, and they mostly are! I'll suggest specific things later (yay, I like this sort of thing). The Crafting Hall is really very interesting. Awesome job. The Great Market is such a wonderful place! I think the NPCs of the betatesters should provide useful information about the items' characteristics in a creative way, so before I craft a Topaz Ring, Repulsa could warn me how it's only for the moral people and was designed to strengthen your hand muscles slightly for better throwing and blocking skills as well as to intensify your harmful magic (or something like that). It's just an idea which may require quite a bit of more work which might be interesting to do. It's good for all Heavy Armor to have at least 20 Ac, but it shouldn't exceed 25 Ac unless it's a very special armor.
Chiung's English is correct. . I'll look at the suggestions. Most of them seem fine, good for balance. The addition of the Crafting Hall was a big addition. Old Shaman thinks it's better as a one-time addition as it bulks up the file too much. And you know I had to build the file twice because the first time it was too big. The file is pretty big now so to add too much dialogue isn't a good thing. But I can add some, not much. Just a very little. I thought it was a good addition too, whether we keep it in other expansions depends on how people like it and whether I can keep it manageable. Will look at the potions. I found potions that restored hp or mana or cured poison to be the most useful. I think I changed the store-bought potions but not the homemade potions. There might be a problem with fortify hp but Elendil won't change anything in the old game if there is so it's better just to remove that. I'll change Bethor's rod if he agrees to the change. It's really annoying when things break to have to repair them. Let's look at stability on mobile right now and bugs and then we can focus on other things. There are two bugs that will be fixed in the next version. Lady Peony doesn't give you her grandmothers' rubies and there's a script error on the cave hole in Immortals's Cave. Thanks.
That Emotional Vampire in the Heavenly Market is a healed emotional vampire. He might say he's working on his trauma and that a monk inspired him or something. The main thing is that he isn't supposed to realize what he's doing and only see the bad stuff he projects on others which feeds the vicious cycle that makes it all the harder to get out, because it's hard to look at oneself with certain "good" and moral convictions when there's much dread and low self-esteem and so on. So from here comes incessant blaming and lots of anger. I'm just passionate a bit here because it hurts me how some school teachers behave in that way most of the time and with everyone having kind intentions, everyone gets hurt and stuff. Or something like that, I'm missing quite a lot because it's complicated and hard to investigate. The dialogue is fine, I'm not asking to change anything, just felt like sharing. Happy adventure everyone! #
"Hmmmm." - is this a hint that I need high Personality for the statue in the Yang room in Abode of Agony? The Silk Weaver can't weave a Silk Cloak. She should also weave more and better items (She's in the Maze of Agony and the Silk Shirt is a piece of starting equipment set in the Temple of Ancients..) Bethor says I can craft stuff imbued with the Fire Cracker spell, which is wrong. He crafts Sting. Why are Venomous Toad potions "Homemade" and can't be sold? What are Lotus Dreams potions for? The Holy Serum would be be more useful if it also cured Plague. Stats suggestions: Emperor's Bow (heavy): 25-58 Damage. Gold-girded shield: 24 Ac Golden Armor: 23 Ac Ruby Roc Armor: 28 Ac (and maybe a hint that it requires evil alignment) I think the Balanced Blade should be enchantable and not pre-enchanted. 300 storage should be enough. Topaz Ring and Ruby Carved Ring: Raise the skill enchantments up to 45. Da Niu Necklace: + 20, +20 and +10 Strength. Xiao Niu Necklace: + 100 hp. I thought Bethor's Rod could have a different use for players who use a lot of magic and not be that OP weapon (as it's easy to reach early on) with very low quality. Plus it would be very easy to.repair even wih low repair skills The Tiger Tamer is an important item that can be sold. It's actually better that way, when you can sell old items that are no longer needed. Perhaps it would be all right to make the Weretiger also vulnerable to magic, just like the Gu Demon is. Then the Bamboo Cruncher too had better only be possible to hurt by Tiger Tamer or magic just like the Weretiger. Or this minor thing doesn't really matter.
Changed "Hmmm" to a hint you need Personality there. Silk Weaver now can weave a Silk Cloak and a better shirt. Bethor's dialogue fixed. Venomous Toad and Lotus Dreams are now sellable and not homemade potions. Lotus Dreams fortifies Intelligence. I changed the stats to the extent I could--there's no +45 so used +40 on the rings. Tiger Tamer is now not sellable. These changes will be in the next file you get from Elendil. I don't want to lower Bethor's Rod---I think it's ok to have one high power weapon that's strong. Many people really object to having to repair items. I don't want to change the Balance Blade because it's needed to fight a lot of high power monsters in the Abode of Agony. Some people don't like to enchant. So I think it's better to leave it pre-enchanted. Very good suggestions, as always. Thanks.
New file sent to Elendil for TestFlight. If you're really far along, it's better if you don't restart. Thanks very much. I asked him to increase the gold the pre-generated character starts out with so you can buy more potions. : ) These are the changes. Warning sign of spoilers put up outside Phredd's in the Forbidden Market. Added a Demon-reflecting mirror in the crypt in Chu-chih Palace for those who have to camp out too long to buy one from Vermilion Snow. Lady Peony now gives her grandmothers' Rubies. Fixed script error on Immortals' Cave. Typo fixed in Credits. Mining script changed slightly. iron-studded armor now Ac 15. Iron-embellished armor now Ac 20. Emperor's Bow changed to 25-58 damage. Gold-girded Shield 24 AC Golden Armor 23 AC Ruby Roc Armor 28 AC Topaz Ring skill enchantments raided to +40 Ruby Carved Ring skill enchantments raised to +40 Da Niu Necklace Added more Strength Xiao Niu Necklace Added + 100 hp Gondel's Guardian now has 22 Ac. Tiger Tamer is no longer sellable. Statue in Abode of Agony Yang room gives you a hint you need Personality to do anything there. Silk Weaver in Maze of Agony now weaves a Silk Cape. She now weaves a better shirt. Venomous toad and Lotus Dreams are now sellable. Maze Gate, Maze of Agony, won't open now unless you talk to Kasper. Tintin888's Crafting Spirit's dialogue fixed about the quiver. Chi's dialogue fixed. Grape Wine just restores hp. The FireCracker spell costs more mana. Ahmitahba's Amulet is now sellable. No reason for it not to be. Dragon Guard removed near a hole in Dragon Caves because of crash. Some typos fixed.
What email address should Elendil be sending the TestFlight email to? Did you check your spam? Does anybody else have the same problem? Thanks. In a way that's good because you'll have a very clean file but not sure why you didn't get it. Please pm me your correct email address for TestFlight so,I can check it against what I have.
@Bethor-- would you like to have a hefty bonus to one of the magic skills on your weapon at the cost of its attack power? If so, pick a skill. Would you prefer your weapon to be a strong and sturdy fighting stick, or either brittle or weak weapon with extreme magic boosts? Feel free to come up with other kind of powers if you like (within what's possible) It can't be a lot more powerful than regular weapons, but can have special unique properties.
There is a new TestFlight version. Elendil gave the pre-generated character 10000 more gold. If you didn't get the update, please let me know. Liz just finished the game on her ipad and I'm getting reports it's very clean, which is good news. Happy upcoming Thanksgiving if you celebrate.
If no one has found any bugs, I think we're ready for a release. I got one report no bugs. If that's the same for everyone, that's great.
I just found a save with a 21 level Rasvim hero or possibly heroine (can't be checked easily it seems) whom I used to get through the Ice&Fire expansion pack and decided to play Dragon Jade from start at least one more time. That character's just right. Yeah, I have a lot of different old saves. Some gear still needs a few adjustments to be useful, I believe. How about adding some ambient sounds here and there before the release? That stuff doesn't have any gameplay drawbacks and sounds very good in my opinion.
Thanks for all your balancing help, DeMenchev. I don't want to add anything more to the file because it's getting large and it's stable but I did make some item adjustments. If there are no issues that surface in the next few days, I think we have a release. Thanks for all your help. New file sent to Elendil for Test Flight-- Phredd now sells the Silver Dragon Key. DeMenchev's dialogue expanded slightly. Bamboo Shield AC is now 14. Gondel's Guardian AC is 17. Bethor's Rod lowered slightly. Typo in a Riddler fixed. Spherical Monk Attack now 170-250 Temple Keeper's Sword now has 40-75 damage. No need to restart. Just balancing issues.
I'll try to play the game to the end in a few days then and see if I can find more typos or suggest good item improvements
I think unless there are bugs, we should finish up. Thanks. The items are pretty well-balanced now. No one has reported any new typos or problems. Thank you for your help.
