Z-Exemplar is a 8-bit style, side-scrolling shooter that pays homage to many classic titles from the past and adds a few unique features of its own. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel I'm still deep in development but if you'd like to keep up to date on Z-Exemplar's progress then please follow me on twitter @SuminellStudios Thank you for your time.
Looks great, and judging by the level select screen, it isn't lacking in content either! Eagerly awaiting this one. Any info on pricing? Thanks.
Yes, R-Type a definite influence on Z-Exemplar, along with Nemesis, Gradius, Salamander and other scrolling shooters of that ilk. No pricing info yet but we'll let you know as soon as we do. Thanks for your interest.
You dont understand what side-scrolling shmup means? Ever played gradius, salamander, r-type, darius burst, blazing star, or Deathsmiles?
The gameplay involves piloting your ship through various right-to-left scrolling landscapes, avoiding deadly enemy attacks and using a wide range of weapons to kill your foes. I'll post a video as soon as I can. In the meantime, why not follow us on twitter, @suminellstudios, to keep up to date with Z-Exemplar's work in progress. Thanks for your interest.
Z-Exemplar progress update. Hi all, Just a quick progress update on Z-Exemplar... Flesh out the flesh planets with enemy types - brain guns, patrollers swarmers... ... the flesh planets are probably most advanced right now. ... starting work on the asteroid fields also. ... and the hive planets are slowly coming together. More coming soon. Thanks for reading, Suminell.
Love these old skool Speccy style graphics. Please use relative touch as one of the control options Instant purchase when this ones out
Haha same ere, i musta broke 4 speedkings playing "sensible soccer", so will z-Exemplar support Apple's MFi controller standard? Controllers such as MADCATZ C.T.R.L.i , MOGA REBEL, HORI HoriPad wireless, SteelSeries Stratus XL etc.. Thanx for clearifying this.
Definitely something we'd like to cater for, if not in the initial release then in future updates. Cheers, Ed.
Quick update Been working on the galaxy map recently - adding names to the various planets. It's been fun adding references to old spectrum games and their programmers! To keep up to date with the latest progress on Z-Exemplar why not follow us on twitter @SuminellStudios Cheers, Ed.
Update 13/6/2015 Been working on the flesh and hive planets, filling them out with new enemy and hazard types. Calling these things fleshrooms, they're tough with one weak point that is only revealed for a short time. Eliminate them fast or endure a shower of spores! These are beetle barriers. I'll probably make them a lot tougher to destroy so it's more of an avoid or die type of hazard. Claws. Best avoided. The hanging things are chrysalises - if you take them out quick you can avoid the swarm of enemies that they contain. Don't forget to follow us on twitter @SuminellStudios to get regular updates on Z-Exemplar's progress. Also, I keep a devblog here in which I share some of the struggles and (hopefully) triumphs involved in making the game. Thanks for stopping by, Ed.
