Hi, I don't often comment on other peoples games as a fellow developer, but I really liked the look of this so bought straight away. I don't want to sound harsh but I have to say the on screen D-Dad is really ruining it for me. The game's done so much right, and as child of the Speccy I want to love this! I'm not a fan of draggable d-pads that spawn where you touch (there's an inherant delay in touching down THEN moving), but I have to use in this as the position of the fixed one is too close to the edge of the screen.. But why on earth does it auto center after a time if you stop dragging it? If I want to center I should move my thumb back or release the screen? A fixed D-Pad needs to have a customisable position in the options menu! Otherwise, great work!
There's a lot to love here, and I am absolutely pleased with my purchase. There are some things that I'll second, but there's one particular mechanic on the freighter levels that I'm totally missing. First, I too think the app icon doesn't exactly fit. It might make sense if it was a box cover for a PC version, but it's a bit incongruous as it is now. I also find that the default joystick controls leave something to be desired, and the corner d pad is even more difficult on an iPad. It's also a bit hard on the hands to play for more than an hour, but that's probably for the best. Now, what brought me here in the first place is that I am totally stumped as to how to handle the freighter levels once you have to fly around one vast space hulk that's trying to crush you. I figure I should be flying with a probe in front of me a little, but my max vortex probe isn't cutting it. As goes for my playhthrough, I've gotten through a 1/4 of the galaxy in a dozen hours but spent most of that time maxing shields, Lazarus rockets, vortex orbitals and probes, and getting all the ship upgrades to make all of that but the shields equipped on load. I do suspect that I've ignored one or another element that might be explicitly useful here. Cheers
Hello all, Happy to announce the release of an update to Z-Exemplar (v1.44) that addresses some the control issues raised in the awesome feedback in this thread. Specifically... * Addition of a scalable, positionable static D-Pad * Addition of scalable dynamic joystick * Addition of support for a range of MFI controllers * Various bug fixes and feature tweaks I hope these changes improve the experience for those who have already embarked on their mission. As ever, I'm open to comments and suggestions so let me know what you think. Happy conquering, pilots! Suminell.
YAY!!! That's great news. Enjoying this version immensely, and these improvements sound wonderful. (I actually prefer the iOS version to the steam version, as the steam version has way too much inertia on the ship controls).
Just purchased.. Awesome game.. Thanks. Would be nice though, if the app icon were updated to match the essence of the game.
damn!! MFi won't work for me. Damn!! I'll try on my iPad later but on my phone with a gamevice it's still not moving the ship.
Playing on a first gen iPad mini, iOS 9.3.5, game keeps crashing on the loading screen that says 'presenting'. Any ideas why? I've tried closing down all other apps, rebooting, etc but to no avail. R E A L L Y annoying......
This is the first crash report I've had! Sorry for the annoyance - I really can't think why that would be happening. Is your device possibly low on disk space? Suminell.
never mind MFi - i can't even get the touch controls to work now on my 6S+ I'll crack open the iPad now to see how that goes. Quick edit: Same on iPad Pro - fire button is the screen bottom left and virtual stick doesn't move.
Hi there, Could you try the following - * From the main menu go to settings * Under controls select static dpad (if that's your preferred control method) * Hit done * You should now have option to reposition the dpad and fire button to positions of your choice - use the reset button to bring them on screen if necessary * Hit done when you're happy.# The controls in game should now be where you positioned them. Hope this solves your problem - sorry for the bother. Suminell.
