YES! That's great to hear. Now the dilemma of how many new RPGs I can cram onto my phone in one week... This is a tough one!
Reminds me a little of that Exe-Create game RPG Dragon's Odyssey Frane. I remember playing that one all the way through, and loving it. Hope this one helps create the same kind of RPG magic.
Frane was pretty much an Ys clone, yes. As seen in my Across Age RPG Reload, one of EXE-Create's first projects was porting a collection of Falcom games including Ys 1&2 to SEGA Saturn. Frane was originally a PC series that didn't do much to hide its roots.
Both are awesome. If you only could shell out for just one, ask yourself if you want a JRPG (Trulon), or an ARPG (Ys1). Either way, these games will satisfy.
Oh geez. Ys on iOS -- with controller support? Between this and a Playstation Golden Week sale, I think it's time to say goodbye to my wallet. All.The.RPGs. Can't wait to download this one when I get home (on wifi) tonight!
Are they roughly the same size installed? EP said Trulon was just under one GB. Is Ys any smaller installed?
Bollocks. I finally got round to starting DQ 3 yesterday and now this comes along...... And i can't for the life of me remember it I played it before either which is annoying. Sod it might just have to buy it anyway
Never got to play this back in the day but I love good solid action RPGs; is the combat intricate, and how extensive is the character development?
Ahh I'm still on the fence with this. How's the combat? I'm just worried side swiping enemies will become to much of a hassle after a few hours (and makes you run circles around them). Also, does he move a bit fast or is it just me? It seems like the character is sprinting all over the place.
Thanks so much! Definitely only able to grab one today. Can't wait for my next phone. Probably going to have more memory than my wife's laptop!
It does seem to move a bit fast (and this is from someone who played Chronicles on PC). I've been turning the speed down to "WALK" during dungeons to keep better control; I have found the touch controls a bit finicky. I wish the virtual stick didn't re-center every time I moved too far outside of it; if it were stationary, I'd be having an easier time. To the person who asked about character development: this game is very light on story and character development. The early Ys games are all pretty short and don't do a lot of character work; I don't feel like they really put the focus on storytelling until they'd already had six or seven entries in the series ("Origin", my favorite title in the series, is the first one I felt like they put some effort into fleshing out characters).
