I could be wrong but If I remember correctly weren't the original games packaged together so when you beat chronicles 1 you could carry your characters stats over to chronicles 2? If that's the case it makes me wonder how they are going to do chronicles 2. Is it going to be a separate app? If so will you be able to transfer your characters stats somehow to chronicles 2 via a code or something, or will they adjust the difficulty in chronicles 2 so it can be stand alone? Either way I'm still looking forward to playing both.
Hmmm... you should follow Twitter much closer. DotEmu announced it a few days ago. And yesterday or day before yesterday they said sth like "just a few hours until "Y's" on iOS.
The original originals were of course released separately, and there was no way to carry over stats. The TG16 version of Ys I&II developed by Hudson did allow you to carry stats over, but all subsequent versions (including the PC Complete/Chronicles version that this is based on) didn't. I doubt that'll change here. It's never been an official part of Falcom-developed versions of Ys I&II. So don't worry! Neither the original games nor this remake were balanced to allow for bringing in a beefed up character.
Yeah, of course! Hm... was there a front page announcement? Maybe I've missed that. But I remember that I asked you 1 or 2 days ago on Twitter if you know about the iOS "Y's" release. Until that point, I haven't seen sth in the forum or on front page. And I just realized that it is my bad, not opening a thread for this topic. I could have done that but forgot. When will you review the Y's port?
The story is here, though the exact date isn't in there. I was so excited I wrote it up the minute the news dropped, before they mentioned the date. As for my review, due to some funkiness with promo codes, I'm starting on the game today. If I can keep my usual pacing for Ys 1, I should have it done tomorrow night and a review ready to roll on Friday? We'll see.
Thanks you! Yes, I've missed the article. Btw., I am buying that today anyway, so your score/review itself is of less interest to me, but I always love to see your impressions and opinion on a game.
Ys?! I had one on SNES, it was action based, pretty by the numbers but lots of fun and a decent story. Ran thru it a couple times. Ahhhh the memories of youth!!! This one any good?
No, no, not in the slightest way. Pete and me are buddies, and this was merely a suggestion because he was surprised by the sudden release. (And no worries, I saw yer smiley ). Also, I'd never burn my dear Pete.... well, almost never. Btw. with the new forum font, "burn" looks like "bum". That would, of course, fit much better.
Right? Shaun's reviews just get me more excited to keep playing. I've got to jump on Twitter and give DotEmu a follow. I would've been counting down the days had I known!
This port is DIVINE. Controls so well in both touch and MFi controller. Im just letting nostalgia sink in, and the addiction to commence. Been playing this for 2 hours straight, only stopping coz im having dinner with the wife now. This and Trulon are today's top picks in my opinion.
Forgot to mention, the sound disappears when the device alarm goes off. Just had to save the game and restart the app to restore the sound, but it's clearly a bug.
If i remember correctly, Ys 1 is just a little short of 10 hours, while Ys 2 is somewhere between 10 to 15 hours. Would be fantastic if Ys Chronicles 1 iOS is a success so that we get Chronicles 2 and other Ys titles, most especially Ark of Napishtim and Ys Seven coz those are my favorites in the series
