TOCA 3 definitely deserves honorable mention, the content in that game is insane. I'm still waiting for a true sequel but I don't think we'll be getting them now they've split it into GRID and DiRT.
How can you sa- Well, I'd have to agree with you on the "fun factor" of Majora's Mask, but Ocarina of Time has a better overall package. God, the memory of doing all that work in the Water Temple, only for it to hit midnight when I was about to fight the boss then doing it all over again... Or trying to get that damned Couple's Mask so I could unlock Super-Link-Mask-On-The-Moon. Or the... GAH! I rename the two Zelda games as the best games ever! (That's why I'm getting an N64 for Christmas again!)
i still haven't beat it 100% after almost two years and averaging a few hours a week maybe i suck but it feels like i have been at 96% for 15 races
Gah! DK64 was a classic! Now I need to go to ebay and buy MORE games... Banjo and Kazooie... I really didn't LIKE it that much... It was good, but I definitely think the XBOX 360 version (Nuts & Bolts) was A LOT better. I mean, you got to build machines!
Nuts & Bolts is alright, it certainly looks awesome visually... but sometimes it seems a shame that they've got those beautiful huge levels but only a select few tasks to perform in them. If it'd been a standard platformer they could've been used to their full potential. DK64 felt like all the leftover ideas from BK in my opinion, still good enough to finish though. Nothing DK ever does will beat DKC on the SNES.
DK64 has some mixed feelings for me too. Especially in the end, where you're about to have a big boss fight and you find out you have to have both coins to advance. The Rare Coin FCKED me over because I could NEVER beat freaking Donkey Kong... The other game was easy... I just taped down the "A" button so my space dude was always firing
BTW one of the greatest games of all time is Jet Set Willy. It's probably too old and simple-looking for a lot of people, but once you start exploring, it's got a ton of character and the game design is borderline genius. The Retro Remakes team did an online version a couple of years ago, and it's really faithful to the original... no one plays anymore but it's free so check it out. http://jsw.ovine.net/ Actually I'm hosting a game right now so feel free to join in
I probably have to add Grand Theft Auto III to my list(or the even better San Andreas) I remember GTA3 was what convinced me to buy a PS2.
15. Uncharted Series 14. Wolfenstein Series 13. Pac-Man 12. Alien Hominid 11. Infamous 10. Star Wars Battlefront Series 9. Ico 8. Kirby Series 7. Legend of Zelda Series 6. Shadow of the Colossus 5. Super Smash Bros. Series 4. Sonic Adventure 3. Borderlands 2. Pokemon Series 1. Sonic Adventure 2
ok then. 1 Gunship2000 (Amiga) 2 Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday (Megadrive/Genesis) 3 Theme Hospital (PC) 4 Space Invaders (Atari Console) 5 Starflight (Megadrive/Genesis) 6 Raid Over Moscow (C64) 7 Super Monaco Grand Prix (Megadrive/Genesis) 8 Football Manager (Spectrum) 9 Microprose F1 Grand Prix (PC) 10 Birds of Prey (Amiga)
I'm impressed. I'm not sure even my list would be that retro. A couple of CPC games then it's over to 16-bit I think.
I don believe in organizig these lists from top to bottom. So... Final Fantasy VI TIE Fighter Resident Evil 4 Chrono Trigger GTA:San Andreas Metal Gear Solid Series (4 being the best, but I also like 3) Icewind Dale Everquest Ocarina of Time (well spluh) Super Mario 3 Shining Force Xenogears Xenosaga Gran Turismo Series (4 also probably the best) Il-2 Sturmovik (great WWII flight sim)
You were doing well until you said 4 for MGS and GT Everyone knows 1 & 2 are suprerior in both cases!
The first MGS is debatable, however, I hated MGS2, it kept feeling like it that time in a game before you get to the main story when you are out killing giant rats in the forest, or doing favors for townspeople. Finding all those bombs and the President's aid (or whoever he was) was like "Come ooooon, let's get to the real story), and that basically never happened. Well, it DID happen, but it went from said "intro mode" to BAM FINAL BOSS! Never played GT1 or 2, and besides, it's MY list! If I wanted, I could even say the ET Atari game is one of my favorite!
GT2 is where it all happened. It went downhill from there, although I have reasonably high hopes for GT5.
