soooo..... how do the graphics for games that are not hd games look on the 4th gen? if i upgrade from a 3rd gen do i need to buy hd games only for them to look good? or will the 300+ games i have be ok to transfer?
So far for me a majority of the games look the same, but there are still some that look noticably worse. It shouldn't be a big deal.
So do you guys think Its worth upgrading from a iPod touch 3rg gen to an itouch 4?? I've noticed the backin on the new itouch Is more likely to get scratches, is tere any cases out there for it yet?
I honestly don't think it's worth the upgrade. Shelling another $300+ after barely a year after the release of the 3rd gen just doesn't seem worth it. Not until they improve the camera and fine-tune the details. There seems to be a noticeable gap between the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. If you're coming from a 2nd gen, though, definitely worth the leap.
Exactly a 1st or 2nd gen user should definetly get this, theres so many things that I just now realized ive been missing out on. I have a 1st gen and the speed on that with all the apps I have is horrible, but the difference between that one and this one is amazing. Im really glad I waited so long, pretty much all the features I need besides the not so great camera.
I found a couple of nice apps that we can use with our crappy iPod cameras. The first one is pic2shop. It works really well with barcodes. And the second is Bing. It has a camera / search feature that can be used on books and DVD covers. Side Note: I really wish Google would step up their game and improve their app... I can't stand Microsoft...
It cost me about $160 to upgrade. I sold my 3G on eBay and cleared about $160 after expenses. The 4G was $317 from Apple. You could save around $25 by ordering from Amazon. That would make your upgrade cost about $135, depending on how much you can get for the 3G. What you get for your $135: New iPod, new battery, 1 yr warranty, better processor, much better screen, mic, gyro, cameras, better resale value. Is it worth it? It's a personal choice.
tsharpfilm: how well dose the barcode app work? there is one on the first page for like .99 that has almost 5 stars. and it says what iphones it would work with. i still wonder what iphone you could compare the gen 4 cam too? the second iphone? anyone know. chris.
pic2shop works very well, especially in a well lit room. You just line the camera up with the barcode, it beeps (kind of loudly), and then it shows you places where you can order the item online, ect.
cool. will try it next weekend when i go play with a ipod locally.. and probably buy one. just have to make sure the thickness dose not bother me and what it will feel like with a case on it since i always use a case. chris. P.S i thought this was intresting. http://financiallyfit.yahoo.com/finance/article-110607-6607-1-what-smartphones-really-cost?ywaad=ad0035 seems the iphone is the most expensive smart phone to build at 187.51 .. and the screen cost them 30.00. so the screen in the ipod probably cost 15.00 heh
why what? its not the same screen, the ipod uses a different screen than the iphone.. so it is cheaper to manufacture or logic would make me think so anyhow.... or apple would of just used the same screen that the iphone uses if it was not trying to save money using a different screen. maybe i miss understand what you are asking. chris.
I really don't know what to think of it... I had the 2nd gen touch for almost three years and im trying to decide wether this is worth the upgrade. What I really want to know is how well the battery life compares to the other models, and if it'll finally run that n64 emulator that I never got working. and, after reading that article a few pages back showing how crippled apple made it, im not so sure im gonna take the leap ...
Yeah, they really crippled it with that A4 processor and the Retina screen and the microphone and the gyroscope and the video cam and Face Talk. I'd stay away if I was you. Oh, I forgot to mention the battery life is better.
Actually, disregard everything ive just said. I wasn't thinking when I posted that as I had just woken up, and I guess i was expecting an iphone4 without the phone for less than half the price. Would it be better to order it through the apple website or wait for it to hit stores who-knows-when? The only thing that bothers me is that they kept the chrome design for the back cover. It would've been nice if it had the same two glass panels as the iphone, imo.
If you are comparing the iPod 4 to the iP4 you got a reality problem. The iPod 4 is an iPod! and blows any previous iPod out of the water. Compared to the iPod 2G/3G, they are low specced in EVERY way. From Retina, to CPU, to double RAM, to Battery Life to display contrast to brightness, to black - the iPod4 is SO MUCH BETTER. As this always mentioned article clearly tells. Read that article again and see how the iPod 4 compares to the iPod 3G then you can imagine how much better the it is, esp. compared to the iPod 2G. And now come again complaining that it costs $270 instead of $1000 (like a $50 plan a month for the next 2 years). SO if you complain it´s not an iPhone, I suggest you get one. I WILL DO get an iPod4 for sure to upgrade from my iPod 2G. And BTW: the Anandtech article may be technically correct but it puts some facts together is sich a hilarious and distorted way I want to puke!
I'm guessing it might have been sold out. All the local Best Buys, Targets, Costco, and Fry's Electronics in my area are like sold out. I'm still waiting also on Amazon.
