Does anyone else's iPod get kind of... warm, when doing anything?

Also slightly disappointed at the battery, but that probably just because I'm so used to the iPad.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I'm not sure how it compares to the other iPods though. I always used my 2nd gen inside of a rubber case.

Can anyone confirm no vibrating alerts? I haven't seen it mentioned on here, so I'm assuming that it doesn't have hardware in it for that.

Are any of you jailbreaking it right away, or does the new iOS make up for the need or want to jailbreak?

I'm definitely going to upgrade. All of the games are getting larger in size, and my 1st gen. 8GB is still working great, just limited in drive space and ram.

Hahaha. Nice! :D I kind of wish I had gotten engraving now.

I haven't seen anything anywhere in the settings about vibrating alerts. I doubt it has them.

I'm not jailbreaking again. This thing runs well, it does everything I need it to do, it has all the features I need and like, and I'd rather not compromise this stability with user software.

Can you make playlists directly on the iPod Touch 4G, instead of the regular "On the Go" method, or genius playlists? I guess I mean, can you rename your playlists in 4.1. Does your music sound any better or worse with the new hardware? I've heard some people in the past say that they could hear a slight difference between the 1G and 2G touches.

Yep. You can make playlists on the iPod. I don't know about Genius playlists though. I've never used that feature.

I don't think so. But you can edit the arrangement of songs within playlists, and delete them.

Not really. It sounds about the same to me.

Good news. They are. :) I tested it with the Bing app and it works just fine. Voice recognition also works very well.

    2nd gen.

Edit: The speaker volume is much better though. It can get pretty loud.

Definitely order it online, that way you know exactly when you'll have it. When are stores ever all that reliable anyway? Also, ordering it online gets you FREE engraving to write funny things on your iPod! :p

Yes, I seriously did. I'll takes some pictures of it when it's (finally) in my hands for proof! (*SOOO excited...:D)

That is REALLY funny!! At first I read it over like 10 times, lightly chuckling to myself, pretending that I "get it". And right as I began scrolling further down the page, I burst out in laughter in realization! *DUURR! (i just woke up so my brains a little slow right now) Thanks for the laugh though :)

I'm hoping my first impression will still be good. Still waiting for my 2x 32GB iPod Touch from Amazon to ship. I've been reading reviews like Anandtech and I can say a bit of the hype died for me. Very nice review from them from a hardware technical standpoint. I guess my excited died out a bit when iFixIt.com took the iPod Touch 4G apart and started posting technical specs...

Mine just made it to Anchorage, Alaska from China.

For the same price as a 3G you're getting a better processor, 2 cameras, a gyro, a mic, and a much better screen. What's to be disappointed about?

Sure it could be better but then it would cost more. If you want the iPhone 4 features then buy an iPhone 4. Oh, choke, it's way too expensive, isn't it?
