From what I hear, it takes a couple of charge cycles for the batter to reach full strength. I've charged mine a few times and it works great now. But games with a lot of graphics and 3D will likely drain the battery no matter what.

I've noticed that too, and I think it's normal. When you pack so much pow-wah into such a tiny space it's bound to get a little hot!

I think I'm going to get this nice, simple, sleek case MystikSun suggested:

    Or this one :)

    @tsharpfilm

Thanks! Just been playing fragger and star defense. Haven't really cycled up my battery yet since it's very new. Will cycle it later and see if there's any improvement.

I'm assuming it is normal too due to its size. Thanks again!

Bought my iPod 4 8GB yesterday.

I don´t really need to the space and the 32GB will just fill up as quickly as my 1TB Harddisk.

I am REALLY REALLY REALLY impressed by the Retina Display.
even if not considering the higher resolution - black, contrast and brightness are at SO MUCH better than an iPod 2G!!!

When you turn off a 2G the screen wents gray. The 4G goes pitch black.
Also since the display of the 4G is much closer behind the glass it´s really like the iPhone display, where the grafics seems really on the surface of the display and not behind it.

The shape and thickness is great, though I really must get used to the new angle of the bottons.

A really ODD thing is the speaker. It´s crisp and sharp yes, but if you hold it in you hand for gaming you hand acts as a reflektor to the sound directing it to you. This results in a DRAMATIC change in volume and soundcolor when you take away your hand.

So playing with headphones seems more imperative with this one.
Bur I am doing that anyway.

Also the Gyroscope is REALLY great. If you never experienced NOVA with it, you are really a poor, sad fella. And App startup times are a third or at least half of any previous iPod.

Camera and Video is a nice ADD-ON but nothing more. Medicore at best, it´s still somehow convenient it´s there.

    FaceTime is the bomb!
I have en external Mic from audio-technica and it works just perfect.

If you considering upgrading from a 1/2G there is NO DOUBT that you will be highly satisfied! The 4G is 10 times better with everything!!!

    I am deeply impressed.

    Cheers!:D

Just to play Gameloft's Retina Games such as Prince of Persia, Spiderman, NOVA or West Coast Hustle 2.... It's intense. It's such a gaming expierence I wouldnt except to have on such a small device. I'm suprised im playing something like West Coast Hustle 2 flawlessly on my Ipod Touch 4G. Im impressed.

NOVA is an amazing game to test the new iPod touch. The gyroscope is really awesome to use although it can take a while to get used to after used to using the accelerometer. Oh and the graphics are just so sharp, kinda looks like a PC game that was made a few years earlier and not something on an iPod!

Hey guys, anybody knows the estimate battery life of iPod Touch 4G when playing games? At full charge I'm getting roughly 4 hours of game time only with airplane mode turned on. Is this normal or do I have a lemon touch? Thanks! :D

Well as many of my posts reflect, I'm not the biggest Apple fan out there, nor am I easily impressed with shiny, pretty things. Having said that, I've had my ipod Touch 2G for over a year now and wanted to replace it.

Aesthetically, I like the slimmer design and the fact when I lay it down it's more flush with the surface. The deeper recess for the home buttn means I'm less likely to hit that by accident as well.

As for the display, when I first turned it on and got it loaded up with my apps and music, I was kind of, "Meh, what's the big deal?" It was only when I played Angry Birds on the old and new one that I saw the big difference. Holy moley, there is quite a difference, and it is far easier on my eyes. With the brightness at the same level on both, it simply seems brighter on the 4G.

The cameras are a step up from what my POS phone can do, so that makes me happy, and the face time thing is still to me a gimmick, and won't catch on really until they introduce 3g capability to the touch-if they ever do.

What I love most, is just how damn fast the thing is. I'm very happy with how quick apps load. No more lag or stuttering.

This is an upgrade well worth making.

So, who wants to buy a used 2G 16 gig? :p

I ordered a silicone case online and now I kinda regret it because I just went to my local Apple store and picked up a pretty funky case.

It feels like a hard case but stretches, made of some TPU material.

Actually with all these cases I am concerned about heat emissions / dispersion from the iPod.

So I ended up just putting a a few smaller stickers on the back of my 2G.
I guess optimal would be a metal case with some thermal compound like Arctic Silver 5. iPod gets Protected and cool.

    let´s get geeky :D

You can put thermal paste on an iPod? Seems like it would mess up the back/case.

I don´t know I have not tried it, yet.

The idea just crossed my mind thinking about heat dispersion.:rolleyes:

Interesting idea. Maybe best to have a case that's easy to remove when you want to play games.

Bottom line: it's fine. iPods are no weaker when it comes to heat than other electronics, and they don't even approach the temperature of laptops/Macbooks.
