I've just received an email that they just shipped my iPod Touch 4G and should arrive by Thursday next week! =D
Is there an expert out there that can positively set the record straight regarding ipod touch 4th gen. battery charging necessities? There obviously are some of us here who would like to know FOR SURE the correct way of doing this and so far this thread has offered up mixed information from one extreme to the other! There's got to be a couple of wizards who can agree upon the CORRECT way of doing this so we can put this issue to rest! Thanks for your help!
I asked this wizard... ...and he just sat there and hummed quietly to himself. Seriously - just charge the thing as frequently as you can.
Happy Birthday! I know it's an expensive device and battery life is a legitimate concern but I think people make too big an issue with charging. Don't worry so much, just charge it when it needs charging. I've had every generation of iPhone and have used them all very frequently. I've never bothered about draining the battery down once a month or waiting until it reached a certain level before charging, or anything like that. I just charge it when it needs to be charged and have never noticed any degredation of battery life. Just my thoughts..
You should not drain the battery. That will wreck it. It's OK to charge it as often as you like. That's all you need to know. Don't drain the battery. Maybe you think I'm not an expert cause I didn't write an essay. Just trust me on this. I know what I'm talking about. Other kinds of batteries have different needs.
Never said you weren't an expert! And it seems you are correct! I just now happened to be reading this month's Playboy Advisor in the magazine, and came across the same question and it said with lithium ion batteries, they should be charged often and not allowed to fully discharge. Nickel metal hydride [NiMH] batteries can also be charged at will but should be discharged fully every three months. Thanks for the good advice! 1+
Hey, it's research! Gotta make sure getting one of these things is the right thing to do! Apple is famous for putting out new products and there being issues with them! Has anyone had a problem with light leaking out the edges of the screen? And just how bad is the running hot problem? I read about one guy who was syncing his music to it and got an excessive heat warning while it was sitting on his desk in a 70 degree room. BTW- Sorry if I seem to to be 'worrying obsessively'! "Measure twice and cut once". So what- I measure four or five times!!
Hey, don't know if anyone's still reading this thread, but I wanted to post something I've not seen in any threads so far and this is what I found out! I opened my brand new ipod touch excitedly, put a new screen protector on it, and started to sync with my computer, and the first thing to pop up was a screen saying it was not compatible with my computer because it needs to have OS 10.5.8 OR HIGHER operating system to work! I have a 5 year-old mac OS 10.4.11 g4 computer and now I have to return it to the store unless I get a new computer or buy the upgrade to at least Leopard 10.5 which is obsolete in stores, but costs $125.00 on ebay! I 'd never heard of this before and neither had the guy at the Apple store, but it's true! So I'm warning anyone to look at their OS and make sure you don't make the same mistake as me! I'm broken-hearted but I can't afford a new computer right now! Just thought someone could benefit from this!
Woah, Apple ships lightning fast for a free service. Ordered on Thursday night and just came today Now gotta be on the look out for some cases.
Indeed! I too ordered it on Thursday and just came today. Now I just need to find either a good case or the Zigg Invisible SHIELD Screen Protector.
My iPod came today too, but no one was around to sign for it so I have to wait for tomorrow . Oh well, only one more day!
That looks really nice. I like this one though: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/flexgrip-action-touch4g
Damn, kinda jealous i don't have the iPod 4. I'm stuck with my 8GB Touch 2G. It works perfectly though. I just don't have the money to blow on new gadgets right now so...
