yeah, im sure that is part of it too. he could improve on battery life. im thinking he will say.. everyone said i made it to thin, so i made gen 5 ipod thicker. kiss my feet.

he could improve battery life thats for sure. and buy using a thicker case.. he could use a larger battery.

im guessing he dose not want the ipod to have a better battery life than the iphone.

but he (jobs) could... thats really annoying. I have the sense that the battery is not that good. but perhabs I have to give it a few charging cycles until the battery has reach its full capacity (I hope so)

I read something like that somewhere (dont know if this was in a context of an apple product) anyways, accus dont have the full capacity and each charging (1-5 cylces) its cap. grows. But perhabs this is bullshit, since everyone tells other stuff about batteries :-/

Trying to justify spending an extra 20 euros a month (plus tax it's 28) to get an iPhone instead of an iPod.

    Not having much luck.

iphone here in German costs like 50€ a month plus 130-150€ for the device so you get an iphone for approx. 1200€ (2 year contract) + 150€ = 1350€

you can get 5 (almost 6) ipod touchs 8GB for that money. Jepp, I dont want to spend that much money for a telephone (for now :D)

uhhh that sounds like some bs right their, rule of thumb for any device with rechargeable battery use it when you get it without charging to drain it dead, then do a full charge that should give the battery the longest life....

how does a cap grow on a battery if its designed to hold a certain amount of charge and that's it, that cant get bigger unless it evolved or some alien technology we don't know about

that's not the only reason for this, it was to keep the manufacturing cost low.....

think about it like this apples flagship product is the iphone 4, spec wise it rapes the hell out of the touch but that's not a bad thing...i wont get to tech specific

    iphone 4 - 512mb of ram ipod touch 4 - 256mb of ram
iphone 4 - retina display that can be viewed all angles without any loss of color.. ipod touch 4 - retina display can only be viewed certain angles with full color the other angles has a tint of blue (you wouldn't play in these angles anyway)...
iphone 4 - ipad processor - ipod touch 4 under clocked ipad processor...
iphone 4 - i think its 5 mp camera with flash and it shoots 720p video - ipod touch 4 has a .90 megapixel camera no flash(why they dont have flash who knows) and it can also shoot 720hd film....

now had touch used same specs as iphone 4 , the cost would be much greater and they want to keep ipod touches at the reasonable ipod touch price...since its not a phone are you willing to pay 399,499 or higher? no you would buy a freakin ipad or iphone4 lol...or the rumored 7inch ipad...and thats what apple would want you to do

point im saying is they want to keep the ipod touch the ipod touch, so when you look at you go hey this is a ipod touch 4.... if they would of given the touch the iphone 4 case people would be confusing it with their iphone 4 then they are competing with their own product....

apple is smart cause if you are not happy with the touch then why not get a iphone 4?

I for one love this thing, games look awsome with retina display, they run smoother, everything is faster makes my 2nd gen touch look like crap!

only problem i have with if you not happy with a ipod get a iphone.. i personally have no use for a cell.

also there are different kind of batteries.. the one the ipod uses its best not to drain it all the way from my understanding.

    can anyone confirm this?

That's the same with iPhone batteries too... and almost all current rechargable batteries. They prefer short, frequent charges and are at their "happiest" between around 20-80%.

With any Lithium Ion (LIon) battery, it's best to charge whenever you can.

Some people say you should let the battery drain about once a month, chances are you will run the battery flat using it often enough to not worry about this part.

Issue with the iPod Touch and iPhone (and I assume the iPad) is that the system will not boot, and eventually will not boot without iTunes if you run the battery dry enough...

Yeah, Baby!! Just got my new ipod 4 64gb at the Apple Store [cause nowhere else here has it yet!] and wanted to post some observations as well as a couple of questions about it. Replaced my 3rd gen. ipod touch 64gb unit and was curious to see if it was worth the small jump from there. Turns out it was a BIG jump! The first thing I noticed while fiddling with it in the store was how thin it is! That's not so important to me as I have big hands and I wouldn't mind a larger, longer-lasting battery in there. They say this one lasts longer, though. Then, right away, the retina display blew me away! What a difference the screen is! Wow! I was very impressed right there and it was basically sold at that point! With the other upgrades like the added speaker, built in mic, still camera, video camera, face time, etc., I'm really happy with it! Little disappointed the still camera isn't better, but in a well-lit area, it does the job. Wish they upped the RAM to 512mb, and I haven't used it for very long yet, but I've heard it does run a little hot after awhile as well. Also, if you press hard on the screen, it does have that rainbow effect that fades away like you have in most LCD screens, but you don't ever have to press that hard. Just noticed it, though, and that never happened on the 3rd gen. Probably because the screen is glued directly on the LCD this time. Okay, so my questions are about the battery. Should you wait most of the time 'til it drains all the way down to charge it, or when it goes down a little always give it quick, short charges? I thought the batteries only had a certain amount of charges, like 500 or so. I don't want to be replacing it, and I've had 2 ipod touches for around a year and a half each with lots of use and charges and have never had to replace them. So, if there's an expert on that, I'd like to be informed on that! Thanks!

Hey guys I recently just got my new touch 4 and I'm really glad with the purchase, the camera is decent, the videos are good, and the retina display is nice. Still have yet to try the facetime but other than that, it's awesome!
