actually in the mobile App store, all the icons became hi-res, I think even if the app itself never got an update for a hi-res icon
Hey guys, Just bought the new iPod Touch (yay!) as my iPhone 3G was worth of an upgrade. But I didn't realise it was this far behind the times! After playing a bit on the the new iTouch, the retina display is amazing! I also see a SUBSTANTIAL difference in speed compared to my 3G. For example, from loading Splinter Cell: Conviction on the iDevices, I was able to start a level on my touch whereas my iPhone had just finished loading the menus. I bought the iPod Touch thinking, yeah, it'll be what it'll be, not expecting a massive improvement, but sure was I wrong. I didn't know what I was missing out on! Definitely a good upgrade! Edit: Ok, a day with the new iTouch and I am amazed by the quality of the device. For example, Prince of Persia looks stunning, and plays and looks as good as the console version. Before the game was very laggy and lacking detail. I would recommend anyone with a 3G like me or a 2nd gen iPod touch to upgrade. The difference in quality and speed is stunning, not to mention the countless other benefits of the device. As for people with more advanced devices, it will be a good upgrade also, but only if you have the money spare. Absolutely delighted with my device! Written on my iPod Touch 4.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/19/apple-patent-app-hints-at-ipod-based-phones-peel-520-turns-shad/ and of course the peel comes in 8 colors now.. i hope it comes to the states... ill be sure to buy one. http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/08/apple-peel-520-coming-to-us-shores-shortly-for-an-undisclosed-am/ but who knows maybe apples own a patent on this already.. they sure love to patent stuff.. i swear every week they have 100 new patents it seems. chris.
To everyone who has the iPod touch 4G, what case do you have? I'm planning to get one but I'm not sure if the cases are out. I was kinda hoping SwitchEasy had some cases out but that doesn't seem to be the case now.
I absolutely love my new device! clear recommendation. Retina is totally awesome! I bought a silicon case at ebay, since in GErmany arent that much other cases arround at the moment.
Hi it's a good product though I have only heard from people using it not used it personally will definitely recomend it to any person whose a tech geek.
How the hell can you recommend anything if you personally haven't tried it?! That's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard!!! Only an idiot [okay-or maybe a child-well maybe you are one] would ever say something so stupid!!!!! If you dont have any personal experience with something, keep your opinion to yourself and don't go recommending anything until you know about it first hand! Otherwise, it's only called a 'rumor'! Nobody wants to listen to someone try to act intelligently if they really aren't!!! Need to SPANK you!!!!!
I still haven't gotten a case for mine yet. I'm trying to get comfortable with using this dainty little thing without one. But I might get a case eventually. I miss the nice rubber one I had for my 2G.
Got my iPod today, WOOHOO!!!! I'm absolutely LOVING it! And no, I'm not jumping on these forums after mere minutes of play and giving an initial impression. I synced all my Apps to it and have been playing with it for nearly 3 hours straight. Love the camera (quality means nothing to me), LOVE the Retina Display (i'm upgrading from a 2G, so this looks AMAZING), loving the slightly improved speed, and the Gyro is SWEET! I recommend that everyone play NOVA immediately after getting the 4G! Anyone care to give me a list of the best Retina Display games? This is the case I went with: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170540108938&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I haven't gotten it yet, so I have no impressions... Check out my engraving!!!
Yeah, the retina display is gorgeous. It's amazing how small the pixels are and how smooth the edges look in some games. This thread keeps a list of most retina display games and it's pretty frequently updated.
yeah i think the gen 2 is on the limits of being to thin. with a case its fine tho. not sure why jobs made the gen 4 thinner other than he could.. but if he kept it the same damn thickness as the gen 2,3 he maybe could of used a larger battery, and camera... as the excuse i hear ( read )is there is no room for a better camera. how thin was the nano that had the cam from last year? i cant get it out of my head that is what he used for the camera. by doing do saving money in the process.. using up all the bits he did not use in the nano last year. i just hope they make a juice pack for it. so it can be thicker for my larger hands. also i have read it to some users it runs hot.. yeah that extra thickness may help with that too. or a case. plan on getting my gen 4 ipod next week. chris.
I for one, personally think that jobs did use a less quality camera on purpose just for the fact that he will eventually come out with a newer more "better" iPod, and so I assume if he did use a high quality camera, what could he possibly do to the next new iPod??
It's more of an upgrade than the 2g to 3g. I believe it's worth an upgrade only if you have a 1st or 2nd gen ipod. The speed is awesome, retina is amazing, and if you need a camera then your set. (I'm actually using the camera more than i though)
