Have you used the In Stock finder feature on Walmart.com yet? That will tell you what Walmart's have it or not yet. I just drove 30 miles today to pick up mine(as its the only place in Northwest Ohio to have them at the moment), and luckily I got one of the last two. There was a couple right behind me that snatched the last one. They did the same thing I did and did the In-Stock Feature on walmart.com I also have no bad things to say about this Ipod... Everythings lightning quick, the camera's great, the screen is crisp, it's really a great handheld device. Upgrading from a 1G and have had expierence with a 2G, this is by far an awesome upgrade. I'd definatley recommend it, especially if your on Twitter, because you can tweet pics and video now and it's pretty sweet!
no i did not. its cool. ill go shopping next week for the gen4. however, if any of you who are upgrading your ipod and are going to sell or give away your old one and you go to reset it.. make sure you sign in to itunes.. laughs. i just built a new computer and installed itunes10.. and I went to reset the ipod so i can give it away. and i kept getting a error.. and would not let me reset it.. after it with through the motion of a fresh install.. it would just keep saying its stuck in reset mode. last time this happen it was because i upgraded itunes and did not reboot. i made sure to reboot this time.. anyhow, turns out i had not signed into itunes yet. so if you have a problem like mine you may want to make sure you are sign in.. maybe im the only idiot who would make this mistake.. heh.. rock on. I need to order a gen 4 case off ebay i guess today. ill buy the ipod local tho. i wanna try the new display.. probably get spiderman seems to be getting good reviews for its visual appeal. chris.
Is there something wrong with peripherals attached to the new iPods? I tried attaching my FM transmitter for my car, (it works on 2nd Gen IPT) and the ipod recognizes that it has been attached (the volume bar in the music app dissappears, that's when the peripheral is recognized) and the LCD screen is supposed to show the current radio station tuning. But it doesn't. I don't wanna have to spend $30 for another transmitter for just one device. Seems silly to me. OH! and this i find annoying yet funny. Any pair of apple earphones will not work perfectly with the headphone jack. If you twist the base while its in the iPod you will reach a certain spot that disables either the right or left earphone, it was different per pair of earphones in my test. So that's a bit annoying. I don't know if this is true for all the other iPod 4's or even the earphones themselves. I just know that's what happened with mine. The earphones don't work for my mac. So I am thinking that its these earphones....kinda stupid.
So my iPod 4G has made it from Shanghai CN to Louiseville US in just two days! WOOT! Not to long till it crosses the border and finds its way into my arms... (i'm canadian, btw)
i just did both in the end.. was not gonna buy a new ipod when i first saw the specs.. then after a week of reading and thinking. thought well maybe ill just get a 32gig maybe.. the 500.00 bucks i originally put aside for the 64gig.. ended up going into a new computer i built. so after telling the person i originally told she could have my ipod that i was on the fence of getting one etc,,.. she sounded disappointed.. so after i hung up the phone i made up my mind just to go ahead and get a 32gig next week.. damn women.. have to love them all.. be it your girl, or just a friend.. they rule my world by choice!! heh. chris.
the iPhone isn't $600.. and how many people who get iPod touches do you think will even know what RAM is
Has anyone had trouble with connecting the ipod touch 4 with speakers? i cant connect the ipod via the 30 pin connector
Mine started its journey there too It is currently in Memphis, Im REALLY hoping it gets here tomorrow, because if not, I get to wait until monday. Edit: Currently at a dest. sorting facility, how long do they stay there usually?
Well when my iPad shipped, it arrived and departed from it's final destination like 10 times. 'Cause that makes sense.
This thread is kind of silly. Of course the iPod touch is going to be all-around less capable than Apple's flagship mobile device. As already mentioned, you're comparing a $300 iPod to a phone that actually costs $600-700 depending on the model with one of the highest carrier subsidies paid via a two year service contract. The reason Apple doesn't include a spec sheet with the iPods (or iPhones) is because of the exact arm chair expert debate that's going on in this thread regarding the impact of the amount of RAM included in the device. To the end user, the hardware of these devices is completely transparent to the user experience.
Fair enough. Business is business. I highly doubt it costs more than $200 to manufacture an iPhone 4. This might be true. After Epic made tweaks to Epic Citadel, it runs just fine on the iPod touch 4G. We have enough ram, for now, to run the bleeding edge stuff. But how do you justify the 0.7 megapixel photo camera with a completely useless digital zoom? They could have at least given us 3 megapixels....
From a raw speed perspective, but not from an overall functionality standpoint. The speed difference isn't enough for most people to care (or even know) about.
This is a big point to me - I've always wanted a camera on my iPod, but this camera is worse than the one on my old cheapo Sony Ericcison that I carry... Very true. But I'm not buying devices for other people, I'm buying them for me! Last year's iPhone and iPod Touch models had the same amount of RAM and an increase in storage space. Neither is true this generation.
