Couple ways around that - On the front page to the right are categories which list each genre and all the reviews done on those games. Usually within a review is a link to the forum threads. Another way to search is to actually type in Google -- "Toucharcade.com: whatever you want to search for" and it will come up with all kinds of stuff for the search term, from front page articles to posts to threads. Where there is a will there is a way. Sure, the easy way out is to make a new thread but that leaves information scattered and some stuff might get overlooked. Or out of control too - Mew had been keeping up a great puzzle game thread but it got SO out of hand with information and people started posting just random things on it etc. At least on the Mass What to Get thread you go to the end and either engage in the discussion happening at the time; or ask a new question and plenty of regulars will help you out - even if it was discussed before.
1. FIFA 12 2. Jetpack joyride 3. Doodle jump for iPad Shadow gun would be number 3 if it had multiplayer.
Anyone else feel like this incessant need to "clean-up" the forums by merging threads kind of makes this board very sterile and slow? I mean look how popular this thread is already, and he is getting up-to date information, if he had searched for an old thread it would have been dated information(especially by iOS standards), and had he posted he would have been gutted alive for bumping old threads from the grave. I would rather this just be what it is, a general game forum, that aloud these kinds of questions to flourish, keeping the board moving at least a bit more quickly(with a heart beat compared to as it is now), and maybe the movement would attract other more fresh threads to be posted as well. I check this board frequently, but rarely am very interested in it. Bit of a rant, not directed at you mod, just my feeling of the general nature of how this board is run sometimes, and how slow it feels(maybe it is slow for other reasons and I am way off base tbqh).
Plants vs Zombies, Dungeon Raid, Tilt to Live, Phoenix Wright, Reiner Knizia's Poison, jAggy Race, GameDev Story, Carcassonne, Colorbind
I don't know about "ever" but Danmaku Unlimited has been eating a lot of my time for a while now. (I don't think I'll ever be a bullet heck champ but I like them anyway.) I can't believe I got this all-round work of art for $1. I play it at 2* on an ipad and it looks fantastic (although not in the same league as Phoenix HD).
Huh? Why did MC2 only get like 4 or 5 nominations... I know it's got faults and there are better, but imo it's the best multiplayer game EVER on iOS. Last night stayed up late playing it I love those games with lots of flags on facility and I go on killing people with shotgun
I agree. While it's not on my ipod anymore, I spent a ridiculous amount of time on it. It was my most played game for what? almost a year? and that's saying something on my ipod alongside a ton of classics and critically acclaimed games. That remain untouched.
I agree with you on that. The multiplayer was the biggest cause for game backlogs because I would buy so many games, but still only play MC2. I have put way more time into the multiplayer than any other game. Well, once I think about it, back when eliminate pro was getting updated and what not, I played that game non-stop. Ah, I can still remember me getting super pissed off when my skill would drop haha.
Modern Combat 2 was an alright game in my opinion, multiplayer was okay, but the campaign was boring and repetitive.
iOS games are rather a nice diversion than games I really invest lots of time into so I find this hard, there is no game that instantly springs to mind. Plants vs. Zombies and Azkend/Sparkle are games I like a lot. There are games like Dead Space which are great, but then I played the PS3 games instead. Maybe Dark Meadow get's me.
Modern Combat 2 on sale FYI. http://itunes.apple.com/app/modern-combat-2-black-pegasus/id394443824?mt=8 Get it now.
who am i to say anything. Definitely not a mod. I really expected some troll out here on this thread huffing and puffing on the topic. Pleasantly surprised that everyone's genuinely helping out. Good folks out here.
As of right now, if I were going to list my top 3 played games (which I'm actually embarrassed to do since there are so many other better games out there): Tiny Tower Dice Soccer Disc Drivin These are the games I play the most out of the different categories. I don't have a lot of time to play games so I haven't sunk an enormous amount of time into any specific one but these are the ones I go to when I actually use my phone or iPad to play games. Time Management Tiny Tower Asynchronous Multiplayer Disc Drivin Casual Sword and Poker 2 / Dice Soccer / Space Miner / Perfect Cell / PvZ Racing Death Rally / Protoxide / Asphalt 6 FPS Modern Combat 2 / N.O.V.A 2 / Dead Space / Deadlock RPG Pocket Legends / Pocket RPG / Game Dev Story Platformer Currently in search of a good casual one (LoE is good, but I want to have fun, not get frustrated trying to pass a level! )
Long ago, Plants vs Zomvies, previously Jetpack Joyride and now Piggy Adventure. Honestly, I'm not good at multitasking.
Lol.. I know everyone likes different platformers..but my favorite is Frogatto. Check out the PC version (its free). After I tried it out.. I just got it on the ipod (so I can take it anywhere).. =D
After consideration mine is Eliss (and no I didn't just get the game free yesterday!) In all this time there has not been any other game imvho which has used the touchscreen interface in a more original, sublime or engrossing way. I also hold the following games in very high regard: Kard Combat, Avadon HD, Edge + Edge Extended, RR 1+2, Dofus Battles HD, League of Evil, PVZ, Battleheart, Dungeon Raid, Electric Box, Neuroshima Hex + N.H. Puzzle, Robot Wants Kitty...there are more but I would recommend any of these games to anyone confidently as being some true AAA gems in the iOS catalogue.
It's impossible to pick a single best game, as different games bring different things to the table. If I had to narrow it down to three, they would probably be (in no particular order): Infinity Blade Battleheart Jetpack Joyride Honorable mention goes to Dragonvale, the first sim/management game to actually hook me to the point of checking it multiple times a day.
