Herzog Zwei, man I forgot all about that. Pretty much the first RTS! That game was so far ahead of its time. I have memories of hanging out in my buddy's basement eating pizza and playing that game for hours. That was a TOUGH game to play against the AI, at least when starting out. My all-time favorite is Megaman 2. Never seen a more well-balanced game with intuitive weapons, cool enemies, unique levels and graphics that still look good. And lets not forget the music, my entire music career is based on the songs that got stuck in my head from Megaman 2. I've been trying to capture a little bit of that 8-bit goodness ever sense. The 'space shooter' sample on my sound cloud page is my ultimate tribute to MM2...yet it pales in comparison to those expertly-arranged 8-bit blips!
Definitely dark souls, the game is just amazing in every way, it's so fun and has a very cool and meaningful, but hidden theme or motive of its story, a game I spent a good amount of time on and can always go back to, it's just unbelievably good. Honorable mentions: RE4, just another fantastic game, and anything made by rockstar, and skyrim is very good as well.
Showing my age now but Dungeon Master on the Amiga was an amazing game!! I would love to see a remake on ios
Some of these answers are really depressing. Not sure I could choose a favourite, but with a gun to my head I'd probably also go with SotN... or possibly Jet Set Willy.
Don't you tell me that Paper Mario was one of the depressing ones, because it is the one true answer. LOL.
I can't stress enough howucj I agree with you. My first RPG ever and god damn did I play the fudge out of it. Second favorite would def be Borderlands.
For the story, I really loved Galerians for the PS2, as well as Legend of Legia. I've by far spent the most time on the Tony Hawk series, though.
Too many good ones to narrow it down but here are first ones I could think of: FFVII and FF Tactics, Diablo II, Halo, Gran Turismo, GTA III Vice City, Zelda (any), and any Mario of course
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) is definitely up there for me. Not only are the atmosphere, puzzles, and music flawless, but it's also one of the only games that makes you feel something. I can't wait for The Last Guardian.
Pokemon Gold ( no matter how many times i tried to get away but i kept coming back to it..this is sadly my favorite game of all time) worth mentioning: Zelda 64 OoT and Mm Starfox 64 Super Mario 64(even though i never beat it) FFTactics FF7-10 Rockman X(japanese megaman with villains like Jupiter,Saturn..)
It's a tie between the Super Mario Bros games on NES & SNES or Age of Empires (STILL waiting in a good AoE port/clone on the iOS)
You do know it could be considered cruel and unusual to ask us for one favorite, right? I'd have to go with the original Deus Ex... and GTA Vice City. DBC
This would be a loooooong list instead of one game only But to tell you one of them i would choose the "Tales of Symphonia" series
Broken sword 1 Other games worth mentioning: Full throttle Theme hospital Max payne 3 Uncharted 3 Bar oasis
1. Beyond Good and Evil 2. -10. ( no order) zelda the windwaker pokemon ( think it was thr yellow edition) batman arkham asylum assassines creed trine bastion gothic series sid meier's pirates/civilization and i assume a dozent more that i cant remember currently and also that best of rating depends on the time i played the games maybe my point of view would change if i play it again
