I want to like this but just can't get into it. I'm typically not into match 3 games, but liked Hero Emblems and thought this would be similar. Feel like there is no strategy and you are just sliding rows. Any tips/suggestions?
There is a lot of strategy. It's just very fast-paced and frantic, so you can't think as much as you would with Hero Emblems. You have to act quickly. My skills definitely improved the more I played, so I'd suggest just sticking with it and upgrading whenever you have the option. That said, some of those quests can be really annoying, requiring some patience, since there is some luck involved.
Set up the board as much as possible; Clear out the muscle/brain tiles when possible. Don't blow match fours and fives unless you can't help it. Try to see the entire board and understand you can scroll in all directions, continuesly - Sometimes there's matches you might miss due to not scrolling a tile on the top upwards and making a match on the bottom row etc. This is a bit of a cheap trick, you can double press your home bottom to get to the app selection screen which effectively pauses the game. This is useful when you're just not seeing a match. That being said its boring as shit playing this way. Look up to where he's running everynow and then, so you know what you're up against. If you're finding that you're having a hard time against a certain road block enemy, you can talk to the guy who gives you tips on how to beat specific monsters and upgrade that item.
Overstatement? One look at the game tells me it's a match 3. For someone like me who has zero interest in anything that resembles a match-3/4/5 I doubt this game would be interesting. It could be an amazing game if you like match-3's but there's no perfect game that everyone would like.
If I sucked and didn't really like the first one, is there any reason for me to pick this up. It seems like it's just the same as the original.
Played the first one and sucked.. The pixel graphics keep trying to suck me in ###.. I'll hold off on this one... For now
I love me some retro pixel games, but I just can't get into the entire visual presentation of his game.
I've only gotten to spend about 15 minutes with it so far, and have never played 1000000. The match-3 sliding is... weird/awkward, but interesting. It takes some getting used to. I'm a HUGE Hero Emblems fan, and also have enjoyed the more flexible match-3 style of Spellfall in the past. But I do like where this game seems to be going. Achievements would be nice... I'm an achievement monkey, both on Playstation network (PS3/Vita) and Game Center. But the game seems pretty fun so far. Nice to see a game with no IAP's that'll hold my interest on a 6 Plus.
Not really, no. It's very much a building-on of the first game, and the core gameplay is very similar. Great for fans of the first, nothing game-changingly new for those who weren't.
Maybe I don't get it? Don't hate me guys, but after reading all those great reviews, I got the game and played until the point where you can recruit monsters. I actually like match-3 games, especially the Playrix-kind. But somehow I just don't "get" this one? Go on a run, get kicked off pretty fast, upgrade if possible, rinse, repeat. Is there anything more to it? Am I missing something? Right now, I have no incentive to pick it up again.
Any advice what should I be upgrading? I got stuck and since I still don't know how the weapons/stick/shield upgrade works I would like some advice. I am at Clockwork Ruins.
Loving the game. It's just 10000000 with more things - which is great as that was a huge inspiration for us when we made Super Glyph Quest. I like the dungeon tweaks like Dark and Misty and the meta game is pretty tight. I could use more feedback on the progress you're making on your quests whilst in the dungeon as it can be a bit frustrating to reach the end to find out you didn't make it, but that's a minor niggle. The speedrun element might be problematic - I like the fact that 10000000 had an end and I could stop playing the damn thing but this might make me carry on a bit more. Key traps - when they hit you and freeze you - is it timed or do you have to make a prescribed number of matches to break free?
According to the library in my game, you need to make matches to unfreeze. (And believe it or not, I didn't notice the distance meter in the game until I was on the last quest. I wonder how many other people missed that.)
First round finished at 7 hours, last run cost 1 hour. Will start next run tomorrow, hope to found more monsters(33 recruited)
