I'm planning on doing more with the castle in future patches - the ability to sleep, train up, maybe even a special event or two. I literally just ran out of time with it - it can be a massive grind building a game as a solo developer, even one as (on the surface) as small as this. But yeah, the game is mainly about duelling knights. You make that sound like a bad thing, but instead it's a most glorious pastime!
I'd honestly love to put a PVP feature in there at some point. It really just depends on how successful the game is, that determines how much more time I can spend on it. It's been great to hear positive responses from the good folks here in the forum - I just need to try and make some noise and get some sites to take a look at the game, there's so much out there it can be extremely hard to get noticed without spending big money on PR, so you just end up screaming into the void sometimes. There's a lot of high quality content out there ( and a lot more rubbish too!). Ah ... the plight of many an indie developer - but keep your feedback coming, it's been tremendously helpful and motivating for me.
Hey knights, just wanted to let you know the latest version is now on the App Store - 1.0.2 , with the above changes. Let me know if anything isn't working for you! Cheers Oliver
Bugs: After losing a tournament, if you enter the tournament again, the buttons will disappear. (Fix: close and restart the game.) Feedback: The new patch is better overall. One problem though is when you go on an Adventure, there is a possibility of getting a -1 stat or a +2 to stats. The problem is when you get a -1 stat, it's frequent that the "board" resets (what triggers the board reset isn't clear; I know when you sleep in the Tavern it resets, but other times it's intermittent). Because the board resets, it's possible to get another -1 to stats before uncovering a +2 to stats. (Similarly, because of the board reset, you may never or rarely come across the +2 stat bonus.) Another related problem is that Luck seems to fill the +2 to stats bonus. My suggestion to fix this is one of two ways: 1) Keep the -1 to stats, but don't make the board reset randomly so that you can still uncover the +2 to stats. (And don't make Luck equivalent to a stat. You can freely penalize players with Luck, Stars, and Gold, but no way will a +2 to Luck make up for a -1 to Strength for example.) 2) Keep the intermittent board reset, but remove the -1 to stats. (You can nerf the board bonuses to just +1 to stats.)
Ok, This is a great game. Definitely needs to be seen and tryied by more people. Polished, innovative (by me) fighting turn based mechanics. All The content you need For a great RPG. Funny, good graphics, it has all you need to entertain. The only thing i would like toggle off only The music by mainteining The sound effect. With This it Would be perfect. 5 stars indeed and i suggest anyone to try it. Good work my friend!
Additional Bugs 1) Item that lets you continue Tournaments doesn't work. Instead, it will take you to the start of the tournament (instead of your last opponent). Will also trigger disappearing buttons bug. 2) If you buy the highest item weapon (bought the Axe version), when you enter the Equip screen, it will just show you the background and there are no buttons to let you exit. 3) Rare bug, when your system slows down due to lots of playing, when you enter the tournament and win the joust, it will take you to the graveyard screen.
Just stumbled across this game. Hummm...RPG, turn based combat, no iap's, active developer.......wait what!? no iap's? Sold! Shove that up your Clash of Cash #
Ability to have seperate buttons for music and sound should be a minimum option. Sliders would be preferable. So many devs seem to ignore this simple but necessary option. A few observations after a couple of hours playing: 1)How do you open extra Entourage and Item slots? 2)Tactical difference between jumping and advancing? 3)Would like to see a list of what triggers the amount of stars awarded after battles? 4)The blank white screens between events loading are disorientating, how about a splash screen or something else instead? 5)Would like to see an exit button or at least a return to title option. 6)As previously mentioned the loss of action buttons after a tournament bug is still there. 7)Quest for rescuing the witch has a typo "Freeing the womman..." 8)Would love to see some sort of Help guide or in game manual to explain how a lot of the game works. 9)Game saves show wrong date. Apart from all that the game is really fun and original. There is a lot to do and more is hidden under the rather cutesy graphics. Game fits the iPad Pro screen. (it is suprising how many games actually have their edges cut off on the Pro). Game appears to constantly save in the background. I applaude the decision by the developer to release the game with no iap's. Hopefully the game sells well enough to enable more patches. As it stands now I think anyone who has any interest in turn based rpg's will enjoy this game and would be happy with their purchase. There is a lot more to the game than first impressions might give.
You have 2x4 cards to pick before each battle. If you've uncovered some, it "resets", changing the probabilities and rewards you can get.
1) You level up. 2) Jumping consumes more energy but travels farther. Also jumping lets you jump over the enemy (useful when you're about to fall.) 3) Battle Lust = 2 stars; Full health = 2 stars; Finished Match in under 10 rounds = 3 stars; Got a Star achievement during match = 3 stars; Never got hit = 4 stars; Finished match in under 5 rounds = 5 stars
Thanks for the great feedback everyone! Hi everyone, just wanted to say thank you so much for all your amazing feedback, encouragement and diligent bug-hunting. I'm going to post again in more detail soon with some answers to questions about gameplay etc - also working on Patch 1.0.3 that hopefully addresses a lot of the issues! It's really humbling to me that you took a chance on a game by a relatively unknown developer and that you care enough to consider various strategies in the game, what works, what doesn't and so on - really shows there's some interest. Game development can cause a lot of doubt and anxiety for developers, you find yourself toiling away in the dark for many a night hoping that someone will find your work entertaining, so this kind of stuff really fuels me. Many thanks and rest assured I'll keep at it to improve and fix the game as best I can. I'm also developing a bunch of Swords and Sandals games this year ( bringing S&S 2 to mobile, Crusader, fixing up Swords and Sandals 5 and so on ) so if you enjoy this there's plenty more to come! Cheers again! Oliver Joyce Whiskeybarrel Studios
Really enjoying the game, thank you, dev! Thanks for being so responsive, too. I love seeing that. Anyone been able to figure out what the Crusader entourage does? I can't find a pattern!
Got to confess , the Crusader is completely useless at the moment! Apologies! The section of the game they were supposed to help with was taken out of the game late in the build, so they're not very helpful - I'm planning on adding a skill for them back in the next patch, so hang onto them for now but don't add them to the entourage right now
