I was reading a bit about the mythological aspect last night. and came across "Ångerstål". Nothing to do with the game but would have fitted in nicely. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ångerstål "Repentance Steel" is in folklore a apotropeiskt (against evil) object like a knife or other sharp object made of steel. The object became "repentant steel" when the owner used it in a way that he regretted, by, for example harm another human being. "Regret steel" was considered to possess particularly strong magical powers and were common objects in folk medicine.
I quite like that myth Ok, just had one final run through the compendium before wrapping up for good and a last thought occurred to me. Theodor was already researching Year Walking for some reason when he started. He was moaning that there didn't seem to be anything in all of the books he'd read. Nobody he spoke to seemed to have memories, and only one other expert (Ebbe) had a slight clue. Wonder why it occurred to him to start? Daniel was the last, and still in living memory but only because of the crime he committed as a result of his year walk. Stina's cousin was a mental patient who nobody would believe, and all the reports of year walking from people who'd been there were denounced as the ramblings of a madman - even by Theodor himself, when reading Romedal's account. The other lecturers ridiculed him when he spoke of it too. He commented that the Watchers were like antibodies, but then that line of thoughts stops. He also states that year walking was a mistake. Antibodies fight infections, and humans appearing where they shouldn't in the cracks of the universe probably count as those. Theory: The goal was the eradication of any knowledge of year walking to cover up the flaw in the universe. Like Theodor says, why didn't the Gods close the rift? Maybe reality is just that way and it's easier to hide it and drive those who experience it to madness so they'd never be believed. Daniel was the last, and Theodor was the only man who could make this leap of intuition. By coercing Theodor into telling Daniel to kill himself, the murder case would never have happened, Theodor would never have learned about year walking, and the timelines would have sorted themselves out to erase the process from living memory. As we assume Theodor never came back there was nothing left to tell, and everyone else had been systematically destroyed or discredited. Maybe that's why the watchers left the box and fed Theodor the dreams - not to help Daniel, but to close the loop. That might also explain why it was empty.
Did you try the companion app? I've just been playing the game without it and it's freaking me out. I also played it in the dark. With noise-cancelling ear phones.
50 percent of the experience is on the companion app..It is very essential..When you get through it you, will join our madness,lol..
looking at the pic on the wall, i see the cabin, and the Brook Horse.... I still going back to the maybe-clue of "have we HEARD everything"...
Yes, that could be a hint. I already took this into consideration. Is there something hidden in the song "Oh The Joy"? Maybe in the lyrics? It's a strange song with strange lyrics, written for Year Walk. Anybody has written the lyrics down?
Just noticed that these symbols are mirrored. Well... of course. Written on the back of the page... dumb me. But... when mirrored, some look like the symbols on the chest. http://forums.toucharcade.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=53851&d=1361749173 First should be a rhombus, standing on the tip. Second, I can't see exactly. Third, a normal triangle. Fourth, a triangle, inversed. Fifth, a square or rectangle. Sixth, dunno. But maybe the sixth doesn't mean anything. 5 watchers - 5 symbols. And, they don't match with the other line of symbols from the companion. These were: October 8th - Upside down triangle October 30th - Right half of a semicircle November 19th - Square November 29th - Triangle December 18th - Bottom half of a semicircle And I am still unsure about this "Oh, The Joy" song.
They would not make it easy for us, for sure. And there's this new line of symbols at the end of Theodor Almsten's letter to Daniel. 5 symbols that don't match the others before.
No... as I said before, I still think there's something hidden. Simogo said "only very few will find every secret; those who will are on for a big treat", "there's a mystery in EVERY song" and "you've seen everything, you've heard everything, now you have to think". This tells me that there might be a big surprise waiting for those who dig very deep. We still have the song(s) - especially "Oh The Joy" (with lyrics), the new line of symbols, the websites almsten.se and vedtorp.se and the number combinations 03-10, 30-30, 19-11. About those numbers... it was quite usual to use a book as a cipher for secret messages, like: 03-10 = page 3, word 10 30-30 = page 30, word 30 19-11 = page 19, word 11. On the picture with the numbers, there's an open book. Hmmm.
Was thinking along those lines too. Perhaps the dates of the companion and then counting the letters form an anagram? Oct 3 = o Dec 3 = I Sep 30 = t Oct 30= r Nov 30= i Nov 19 = t Aug = h Oct 19 = o Oct 10 = a Dec 10 = e Sep 30 = t Oct 30 = r Nov 30 = i Nov 11 = o Sep 11 = m Oct 11 = w Dec 11 = o (did this quickly at work so might be wrong)
