I think you're right about the sites... I took a closer look at the vedtrop.se page. I've annotated one of the pictures there (haven't had time to look around too much). Annotated image at: http://bit.ly/VCjxp3 Maybe it's just me, but does anybody else see a woman in profile (facing to the right) in the lower corner? Also, what the heck is that poking out from behind the tree?
Google saw the .se in Almsten's site and tried to translate it, which magically transformed the Church Grim into a man with a sombrero. Probably not a clue, but whatever.
I've failed my year walk. I brought light to a tunnel's dark womb, and unknowingly gazed upon symbols that would soon consume me. I saw visions of arrows at the dermal stone, but suddenly I was lost and never felt so alone. Now deep in the woods my cold body lays still, silently blanketed by the unrelenting chill. Soon another year walker will happen upon my poor soul, and lay me to rest in the arms of a well-dressed steed, awaiting my arrival in a brook that bleeds.
I still guess that there is more than meets the eye. First of all, think about the stuff Simogo did begore the release. They have fun with this. Second, why should they put up a big fictional website about the fictional city Vedtorp when there is nothing behind it? The page was crafted very carefully and talks here and there about things and places that are also in the game. Third - why is there Almsten's website with the goat / Grim? Furthermore, there is still the inscription of the game's arc and the numbers 3-10, 30-30 and 19-11, unsolved. And there's more in the companion, I think. We'be just failed to connect certain things yet. Hm. These numbers. Are these dates? Oct., 3rd; Oct. 30th; Nov. 19th?
I just finished Year Walk. Man that was intense. I'll admit that goosebumps and a few jumps happened during my walk. I was avoiding the YW threads so I wouldn't stumble on spoilers. So...what'd I miss? Have you guys found anything new? I stretched out the rune stone to get a better look at it: I tried several runic tables from different periods and honestly this doesn't make any sense to me. It even appears that some runes are upside down and others are just made up. Trying to translate using the tables (approximate because some of those runes don't seem to even exist like the one that looks like a lowercase D, and an uppercase Z), I get: BIWU(UR)S - HI - WIIRU - LU UIS - TRDIFS - WISAI And the meaning of a few of the runes: BIRCH, ICE, JOY, WATER, HAIL , JOURNEY, LAKE....and the list goes on with meanings like those. Could be an attempt to to list what one may encounter during a Year Walk, but the Elder Futhark alone has a very icy meaning so to me it sounds like we could be stretching it.
Just for the fun of it, I inputted all the dates that we found on the teaser trailers on the companion: 1746,1872, 1885, 1889, 1922, 2004, 2013 None of them worked.
From Simogo's blog "- We believe that very few will find every little secret. Those of you who will are in for a big treat." I still wonder which "treat" they could mean. Any idea? Btw, the website holds an interesting note: Vedtorp Church is not heritage-listed 2011-12-16 The missing stones have played into the decision, think Lars Frustén. Inspection Board from Kristianstad, however, remained in its decision. "Now we try to look ahead, and make the best of the situation," Frustén in an article Kristianstadsbladet.
My gut feeling would be that the vast majority of TA users would be against the IAP model (particularly the F2P strain); it is often a question that pops up early in any thread - "is there IAP?" In a lot of cases, an answer of yes may be a significant detractor to a number of potential adopters. Having said that, I'm not sure that a poll of TA users would give you an indication of the perception of the wider public to the IAP model. After all, the vast majority of iOS gamers, I would think, would be at the extreme casual end of the gaming spectrum, hence the popularity of anti-Christ companies like Zynga and the struggles of legitimate devs like Rocketcat et al. I just can't imagine that this large majority of gamers who fall into the casual bracket would use the TA forums, or any gaming resource for that matter. Herein lies the most disappointing aspect of the iOS platform bringing gaming to the masses as it has; what is considered a reasonable asking price for a quality game has dropped to the point that end users whinge about a $0.99 price point. All the while, independent developers scratch and scrape to eke out a living. The casual majority has no regard for the little guy, all they see is products supported by saturation marketing (which is out of reach for many small devs) and other gimmicks. There's more to say on this topic but my kids need me :/
Hi guys, I searched on the forum but didn't find any answer. Year Walk seems to be outstanding but I would like to know if it runs well on Ipad 1 ?
Does anyone think, with the box being opened ending... Spoiler that Daniel has been given the knife in the box by Theodore from the future to kill himself, therefore letting the girl live?
Spoiler go to the shack with the doll hanging down-she's the clue to the owls, touch the doll and stuff-pm me if you want exact answer-just dont want to spoil it for you
Spoiler I think that's how he's going to save the girl too. Hope we're wrong though. If we're right , then this is a pretty f..ked up ending. But then didnt the devs said that if we find all the secrets in the game we are in for a big treat? So maybe there's another final real good ending. I hope the real ending is not so sad though. This is really grey.
