I am pretty interested but will only play in single player. Is there enough here to play just in single player mode? Thanks in advance for any insight. Btw it's nice to see a very active developer!
In only play solo for 2 reasons initially I like to get an idea for a game mechanics before jumping into multiplayer, however regardless of that I'm unable to play multiplayer because I've never seen another game available to join in the multiplayer lobby. That said the game is more than adequate for only solo play. Even with one lane it's a great game and I was enjoying hugely but since they added the ability for a solo player to control for lines the possibilities are hugely increased. It's very challenging which means there is good scope for playing against the AI for long time.
This just went on sale for $1.99, and I'm so glad it did because I wouldn't have paid $4.99 for it otherwise, given the misgivings about the UI/UX on iPhone, which is absolutely awful given my experience with my 5s. Aside from that it's just an amazingly fun game that gives me the same warm and fuzzy feeling that Neuroshima Hex does. I love it so much I insta-bought every available expansion before closing out of the app my first time playing it. I really hope that the developer eventually figures out a way to accommodate those of us who haven't migrated over to "phablets" yet. I understand that there's a lot of artistic ability, expertise and experience on the development team at CMON and I'm pretty sure, based on my own work in the field of web development and media, that this is a case of artists' pride and wanting people to experience the full awesomeness of the card drawings, but I'd gladly accept a concession on that front to make the board overview and the individual card descriptions more legible. In UI/UX there are literally a million ways to skin a cat. It's just a matter of accepting the cons with the pros. Anyway, this game is pretty amazing. It's the perfect pick-up-and-play solo experience so far. I can't wait to try some hot-seat co-op or even the online multiplayer.
I have been trying to purchase it, but I keep getting "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later." This is on the Canadian app store. Is this happening to anybody else or just me?
Hi there Manduck, Can you tell us if you are still experiencing this issue? It sounds like some temporary issue with iTunes, and we haven't received any more reports of this.
Loving the support and fast content updates from the devs: This game started off good and it's just gotten better and better with each update. I also bought it for my android phone, but do find the UI hard work on 5.5" screen so only play it on my ipad. Not a criticism as there are a lot of cards on the screen and it is playable; just not as enjoyable for me as everything is so small. That aside, I'm blown away by how much content has been added so quickly. That and the difficulty of the game means I'll be playing this for a long time. One of the best card games for mobile.
I finally managed to buy and play properly the game (long story...). I was a bit scared by some comments but I love these type of games and setting so I gave in. And I'm very glad I did, because I'm in love with the game. Totally in love, can't put it down. I admit at first the UI took me a bit off guard, especially because I tried it first on iPhone but I'm not sure it was for the UI itself or because I've read so much about it. TBH it's a non issue for me. It replicates the 'real' board instead of adapting to the digital medium like other games do, it's different but it's not horrible as I feared. On the contrary, after some games it was almost second skin and I was playi...well...dying...in no time. The tutorial is a bit long and it took me two additional games (which are pretty fast) to full understand the flow of the game...but after that I was just trying to repel aliens wave after wave. On iPad, I would say it's damn perfect. On iPhone after some games on iPad to learn the various locations and some cards...the only thing I wish is that zoomed cards text were a bit more readable (i.e. Slightly bigger). But enough about the UI. The game is just awesome...every divisions slightly different to add a lot of variability. I can see myself playing this for a long while...so far I was able to reach just turn 5 at normal. I'll try mp too, even if no async means it will be something not frequent as I wish (async would mean daily). Congrats to the devs for their continued support on the game...will look into expansions later.
While I have yet to take on any real mp, playing with 2 divisions, ala Sentinels of the Multiverse, in solo and the game takes on a whole new cool dimension as you can do a lot of cool stuff like have one of your troops open fire on a baddy in another division's line. I also love this game's sick cruelty as it manages in many ways to thwart the ol' build up a few super buffed guys with all of its clever ways to turn those super troops against you as mind controlled zombies.
This game is all about pre-emptivly mitigating the worst reveal effects before they happen. Grenades, mines, shotguns, pulsar armor, grenade launchers, basically anything that either reveals a reveal effect earlier or pauses it and can be used to cancel it, avoid it, or at least nuke the Hell out of whatever critter it belongs to. This game is great.
Hmmm...I have yet to try try playing multiple divisions solo...after I'll be a bit more confident with the game I'll surely try it, thanks!!! Seems really interesting!!! The more I play the more I discover new interactions and 'combo' between cards. The game is really cruel as you said tough....sometimes you have this super marine all geared up and Aliens turn him against yourself, slaughtering your own defense lane. GLORIOUS
Ok...this game absolutely ROCKS. Finally made it to final wave...of course I was slaughtered but it was so tense. I LOVE you have to use everything to have even a chance. It's a totally different but it gives me the same vibes of my favorite iOS game, Elder Sign:Omens, in a scifi setting. Fantastic game. How silly of me to wait this long to finally play this gem.
I got this game on sale and I really enjoy it. But it looks like I can't find online matches. Are there people up for some multiplayer matches?
Yeah it's winnable but pretty hard. I can't tell you a good strategy to win because I'm pretty new to this game too. On my first (and only) win I had only one division and maybe some luck [emoji4]
Well, after a brilliantly played game, I actually made it to round seven before the inevitable happened. I think I just have to adjust my thinking. It isn't like a typical board or card game, but more like Asteroids. You can't win, but you judge your success on how far you get before losing.
I have managed to win 3 times .... So it's possible! Although I have done all of them by working with one division and getting to know it really w love. Every time I try another division, I get slaughtered! The wonderful thing is I had failed so many times that winning was super rewarding, and makes the game more enjoyable. While I like ascension ... I only got into it a few months ago and have never lost a game (human or AI) ... I respect Xenoshyft considerably more for constantly chewing me out
Just starting to get going on this game. Enjoying it so far despite being horrible at it :-( Is there a division or two that are best to use for solo mode? Thanks in advance!
I just played my 41st game and I finally made round 8 before losing! Usually, I would have deleted an unwinnable game such as this, but I keep coming back. I'm going to make it to round 9 one day! Then I'll probably quit since that's as far as you can get.
Finally completed all 9 waves!!! The end screen is a bit of a let-down when you have completed the equivalent of climbing Everest in Speedos while blindfolded!
