nice one slighmd nice to see the devs are now here anyway,my questions are: -Will this game perform well on the older iDevices? -How will the battle system be? -Any estimation on the release date?like March or summer? tnx!
We're pushing the limit on performance. The 3GS will run the game fine when we're done. We hope to get the 3G / iPod 2nd Gen working so that it is reasonably usable, but won't know until we get all the performance tuning done. Battle system will be real time ability based, managed by cooldowns. Not FPS. Not turn-based. Similar to WoW, Warhammer, Aion, and those types of games. Release date should be March. May sneak into April depending on when the dev is completed, beta testing, Apple approvals. Steve
Very very excited for this and the dev involvement her already makes this an insta buy for me. (Just try to make it run on touch 2g please ) Questions for the devs -It looks as if there are only 4 skill buttons on the screen at once. Will there be more skills? That seems like too few... -Is Episode 1 class based or classless? Your forum makes it seem that there are 3 classes or is that for Episode II? Looking forward to seeing this game grow. Let me know if you need help Beta testing
Maybe a bit to early to speculate but will there be some kind of Multiplayer Mode/Leaderboard when Episode 2 comes out? Also Im pretty sure they have multiple pages with slots. IMO works this way too, you have 5 slots and 4 pages which you can scroll by just draging with your finger. I'm guessing something similar is implemented. Now that you think of it mosts RPG's work this way. As to the classes i think those 3 classes belong to Episode 1.
@kugi: salamat bro! Rpg adik ako lol! Anyways, wish there was some way to change the topic name. Maybe xenome: open world rpg! Feverishly waiting for this one!
@ kazcat42 - It looks as if there are only 4 skill buttons on the screen at once. Will there be more skills? That seems like too few... -Is Episode 1 class based or classless? Your forum makes it seem that there are 3 classes or is that for Episode II? There are 4 buttons at one time available. It does scroll for access to more! Episode 1 features our Scientist class. You play as a representation of that class which will be one of several classes available in the MMO. Episode 2 will feature a different class. The three shown on our website are only a few of many! @kingkong120 - Will there be a lot of loot/treasure/rare items? Yes there will be lots of loot, with lots of different attributes. There is also a new and unique system using our in game currency and another 'element' you have to find and then you will be able to gain new abilities. @Braiton - Maybe a bit to early to speculate but will there be some kind of Multiplayer Mode/Leaderboard when Episode 2 comes out? I can't comment on the full feature set in Episode 2, yet. Rest assured we will be doing our best to integrate more social aspects and 'achievement' like goals into Episode 2. Sincerely, Gary Haus
There will be 4 skill buttons on the screen at one time - screen real estate doesn't allow much more than that. However, these button panels will snap-scroll. So for the single user version, you'll get 2 panels of 4 buttons. For MMO, we're planning on 4 panels of 4 buttons. We could change that depending on the user experience. In Episode 1, you'll play a person in the story who is a Scientist class character. In Episode 2, you'll play a different class. Then in Xenome Online (the MMO), you'll have a choice.
Right now there are about 550 items in the loot table with different rarity/quality. There are also mission rewards that will pown. We want loot to be fun but also not so plentiful that it is meaningless. What kind of mad lootz do you enjoy the most? Epics dropping like flies or a little bit-o-grind required?
I think most of us would like a "bit of grind" to earn rare loot, or at least I would. Speaking of equipment, will it change the look of our character? In episode 1 this might not matter much but when you go MMO that will be important. I know that the MMO is still in the dream stage, but are you intending it be an online only game or semi networked? Personally I would like an ipod mmo to have single a single player area to level that does not need wifi but have all the Epic gear and most of the endgame content online. That would mean that you can always play Xenome, even away from wifi, but join for group raids and the like. It would be pretty easy to create a matching system/ friends system through plus (like Eliminate Pro for example) or open feint. This will reduce strain on your servers and help those without persistant wifi. Just my 2 cents.
@developers: you guys should make some official promotional posters to advertise the game, similar to what Gamevil do whenever they have an upcoming game; now little people know about it.
Maybe show us some concept art? I'm interested. Also, if you guys want to beta, ask me to help. Thanks! -*healy
Yep grinding for epics is good. Also, drops from bosses can also be epic or have a higher chance if dropping high level epics, and epic gear must also look and feel epic. Pls add a way to show off the characters. Bragging rights FTW!
[@kazcat42 - Equipment Changing Look] In Episode 1, there are a few equipment slots that will be rendered on the character: chest, shoulders, all weapons. In future versions, we will increase that amount of rendering. [@kazcat42 - Semi-networked] The way we are planning Xenome Online (the MMO), we would like to have both online sections (sort of like offline instances) as well as online-only play. None of that has been finalized at this point. Great ideas on use of Plus+ and OpenFeint. [@Healy - Concept Artwork] We have some on our website at http://www.xenomeonline.com/media/concept-art. Check it out. We totally get the importance of character customization. The iPhone platform, while amazing, can't do what a PC can, so we're working hard to push the envelope here. Right now, I can say that our game should raise the bar in animation/visuals/gameplay.
Someone mentioned being too lazy to look at our site for concept art, so I thought I would throw a pic on the thread for you lazy ones. Here is a pic of the Scientist sized for an iPhone background. Enjoy!
