I think they would follow the square/enix pricing which is 20$ or more..If people can justify this price range,I see no reason why they won't follow suit..

Been watching the pre-release talk of this game back when it was announced on consoles and pcs but never really got into it, after they announced it for ios I decided to watch a few videos and gotta say I'm not super eager to play it now!!

Of course, GTA: Chinatown Wars was a DS game that had been out for roughly a year prior. It had poor sales on the DS, and retailed for about $35. Bastion started off at $15, but succeeded mostly on the PC front, where people bought it in the Humble Indie Bundles and Steam sales for far cheaper prices. Little Inferno was a small independent game that isn't nearly as well known as you might think. As for The Walking Dead, $5 isn't a huge difference in price, and that was a bundle deal. Like the console versions, The Walking Dead episodes are still $5 a pop.

Meanwhile, X-Com: Enemy Unknown retails at $60 (significantly cheaper on the PC, but hey; digital distribution is easier to do, here), has top-notch production values, and most definitely will not be as affordable as you'd like to hope.

This is not evangelism or zealotry (I'm not the "I'll be buying this, and if you complain, don't" kind of person). This is breaking down your argument to dispute the facts.

well you price at a competive level , of course it wont be full price. the retail price hasnt been 60$ for quite some time at least in the uk shops i usualy buy. there the pc version is around 12€ including shipping, console versions double that.

i would probably put it on a release sale for 10$, 15$ regular to have breathing room up and down so one can adjust prices downwards over time more slowly.

as for the tech stuff, the games announcement was paired with on device gameplay parts where it was clearly visible that the optics where toned down.

lower res textures and less fill rate eating effects.

I'm not going to go "macho" nor am I going to "harrass" you. All I will say is I would advise you to be prepared to pay more than a tenner if you want to buy this. I think Firaxis will be meaning more along the lines of Square premium pricing. This is a current gen console game and I think that will automatically bump the price.

Let me repeat myself: we're done with the dynamic lighting, PC vs console vs iPad discussion on this thread. Anyone interested in the topic can start a discussion elsewhere. I just deleted a bunch of off-topic posts; next I'll start handing hour time-outs.

Yay! I kept getting disappointed when I come back here hoping for more info and find people goin on and on about the fine game engine details, I just wanna play this! But on a possitive note what are people thinking the size of it will be? I had a look at the pc demo and it was a 5gb download :S

If it's engine details for the actual game in question then there shouldn't be a problem, game development and tech talk is awesome. Especially for X-Com... 'cause X-Com is awesome. I'm expecting around 2GB for the file size. I don't really have any hard reason, it just seems like the right figure in my head after a bit of compression and removing a bunch of effects and (sadly) levels.

In the UK it dropped almost instantly to $30 after release on the 360 and PS3. In fact I'm not 100% sure it was ever priced higher. I picked mine up for about $25 brand new around a month later.

Heck, there was a deal for this game and nba 2k13 together for 16 bucks so maybe premium pricing is like 9.99.

The UK doesn't use USD. Are you referring to £30, or a crude conversion (and estimate)? £30 is a lot more than $30.

Crude conversion. It was £20. Looking now, it seems to be anything up to £25 online, but I went to a bunch of shops before buying. Maybe it didn't sell too well in stores.

2gb seems like a perfect fit, I just hope they don't remove many levels!

2GB would be compressed. The game in its installed form will take anywhere from 3 to 4GB (or maybe more if they have some good compression methods.)

I've used 7zip and WinRAR to cram 6GB into 2.-2.5GB chunks. Granted, it was the highest level of compression (which takes a while), but it's doable.
