Actually, EU is very graphically intense. So no, it can't do any of those things without making big sacrifices. You give your iOS device too much credit.
We shall see. There're plenty of games with dynamic lighting and full retina. NOVA 3 comes to mind...I'm fine with 1080p and AA, though. Looks almost as good and isn't so taxing. That's what I wish they'd done with MC4, which by the way has both the shadows and lightning. Bladeslinger is the only example I can think of with retina, dynamic lighting and shadows+casting on charaters. It's probably one of the most impressive (graphically) games on iOS. @ Sidgoku that certainly a 180 for you. Please don't respond to this post with a long winded reply about how every little thing I said is incorrect, because I'm really not interested at all in getting into another pointless debate with you.
You've gotta be kidding. EU? Graphically intense? You can run that thing on the cheapest crap available. I'm beginning to suspect you're just saying things as though you're correct in that hope that's enough to make people believe you.
Since we are all caught up in the debate on graphics I wonder if the intel hd 4000 holds a candle to the iPad 4.
Are you idiots really arguing the differences between an iPhone and an PS3? What the hell goes on in these forums anymore?
Beats me. There are so many factors to take into account beyond the standard quoted specs for the hardware that you really need to have developed for them before you can even begin to construct an argument worth listening to. Shouting about RAM means practically nothing.
Who was talking about RAM? All I said was there's no need to lose some basic eye candy like shadows and dynamic lighting. If this were a port to the Vita people wouldn't question a straight console port with these features, yet current gen iOS devices have, at the very least, caught up to the Vita in terms of horsepower. That's coming from a developer (Forgotten Memories), not myself. Please, just lose the condescending tone and the desire to get into arguments. It's irritating and pointless, and if you continue I will report the posts. "Anymore"? You speak as though you're a long time member. While I'm on the app and can't see your join date, you're a member and thus have, what, 50-100 posts?
Got you beat by a few months (Dec 2008) . In any event, we're done with this discussion. This thread is for XCOM; please take the platform comparisons elsewhere.
Uhh... this is gonna be off-topic, last one I promise My join date is June 2009, March was the other guy JBRUU was talking to. You've got me beat by a good half year. I envy you 2008-ers
since when is realtime light important for an xcom game? it needs proper uncluttered touch control , not like GTA with 357 virtual buttons all over the screen as for tech comparison and the illusion that the vita is a match to the ps3 (and therefore the ipad 4 since it uses a similar gpu) might want to read a bit http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-tech-analysis-uncharted-golden-abyss mobile gpus probably need a few generation till they catch up to current console performance and comparing mobile battery limited multi purpose devices like an ipad or iphone to game consoles is odd at best. anyway.. really looking forward to x-com.. just recently beat it again on pc and would love to play on the couch, the loo or in bed
When the devs say that the game will be released at a premium price, do they mean 3.99-4.99 or more expensive like 6.99+?
Don't want to seem like a cheapskate/usual IOS customer who wants everything free...but that seems like excessively expensive for an IOS game I know it's a full-fledged port of the console version, but I hope the IOS price is more inline with the common range of app prices. I'd pay 9.99 maybe, any higher I'd have to consider. Especially since I already EU on PS3
Before the macho "I'll pay anything for this" dudes start harassing you for being the root of everything evil in iOS gaming, let me point out a few things: Rockstar prices their ports significantly below what they're selling on other platforms, probably the best example is Chinatown Wars on the DS vs on iOS. See also Bastion, Little Inferno and The Walking Dead for cheaper prices on iOS. I'm not explicitly for or against this kind of thing, but it's very likely EU will have a reduced price from the console/PC versions.
Root of everything evil? Ha, not me. I only buy premium games, abhor IAP and freemium games, and try to support up-and-coming indie devs rather than the big names like Chillingo. You're right. If Rockstar and Telltale price their IOS versions reasonably, I guess Firaxis would probably do the same. And like I said, 6.99 to 9.99 or higher is more than reasonable for X-Com. So much content and depth
