I use my iPod for music and pick-up-and-play gaming. I wouldn't want to play this game on my iPod, especially when I have an iPad.

I am quite stupidly excited by this news. Going to actually stop playing my Xbox version to wait for this, think it'll be a perfect fit.

Instabuy for around $20. But much more than that and I'll have to do some thinking about whether or not its worth it. Does anyone know any more info about the pricing?

I haven't played XCOM on console, but from the gameplay I've seen it looks really cool. kinda like the hunters series, but with a lot more context and deeper gameplay.

Also, I have to agree with whoever said that having a full console game on iOS is a huge stepping stone. This is big news, even if you're not an XCOM fan

It's a different league from Hunters. Seriously, it's magnificent.

Looks like Apple rule about max 2 GB size of app is going to hurt this game bad as they need to cut it heavily and decide what gets priority.

The devs said its their biggest issue but I'm not sure where they said it was going to badly effect the game. They said its exactly the same but some of the maps will be cut

Pfft I played the demo for X-com on the 360 and I prefer the hunters games personally.

    There's 2 reasons for that;

    1) X-Com should be played on the PC it's the best way to play IMO

    2) the demo was shit and didn't really reflect the game at all, it only gave very vaugue and small insight into the game.

That from a very big fan of xcom and hunters. Long Live Rodeo Games!!!!

The demo doesn't flesh out the tactics, intensity or storyline. Looks like you don't have to worry about the file size or price though which is a bonus

Great game but a lot of slow-down on the PS3. Not holding out too much hope that it'll run much better on an iPad Mini.

Here's a couple reasons why you shouldn't worry:

    • The PS3 has an incredibly confusing CPU, dubbed "Cell". It's notorious for being very frustrating to program for.
    • The PS3 has a meager 256MB of RAM. In comparison, the iPhone 4 has 512MB. The iPhone 5 and iPad 4 have 1GB.
    • Slowdown is caused by bottlenecking from the CPU and GPU, and too much data cached in the RAM. iOS devices have a chipset that is basically a merged CPU and GPU, which you know as the "AX" chip.
    • The PS3 is also infamous for poorly optimized ports (Skyrim), frequent slowdown (Battlefield 3), and big framerate dips when the action gets to be a little too much (any game with a lot of detailed explosions and particle effects).

So worry not. Also, I'm not trying to start a flame-war, here. The Xbox has a lot of faults, too (many of which are far more crippling, like the terrible UI).

Before PAX East 2013, I hoped that NetherRealm Studios would announce Injustice: Gods Among Us for iOS, but they didn't. That must be the port I am actually waiting for, not XCOM: Enemy Unknown (though this is an insta-buy for me). In fact, I know that they are porting it to iOS. Let's hope they will officially announce it at GDC 2013 or E3 2013 (if they are heading to these events)!

The new WB studio opened is apparently focused on mobile. My thoughts it will be one their 1st projects

They are developing two Unreal Engine 3-powered iOS games: a port of Injustice: Gods Among Us and a spin-off of the next Batman game.

It will be interesting to see what gets cut. I'll be sure to wait for a few reviews to hit before I bite, pretty much just for that reason. It might be a great game but if everything that worked for it gets cut it won't be so great anymore.

but I looked up some gameplay vids of the PC version, and it looks glorious. I can't wait!

Sorry to sound like a broken record but from what I've read NOTHING is being cut besides a couple stage layouts. While this is a shame it wont take away from the experience in a major way. For sure wait for the reviews though as its probs gonna be $$$
