Perfectly playable. A few hiccups here and there, but nothing gamebreaking. It performs much better than EU in my opinion... And it doesn't crash! JB iPad 3 with iOS 7.1.2. I don't know how it performs with iOS 8.X though...
What I am saying is that I will eventually not be able to play this game because of some conflict with a newer version of iOS. That's quite unfair when you have paid 20 bucks. On consoles and pc, my games still remain playable. Moreover I know other developers that constantly update their apps because they simply offer good customer service. And if they replace an app with a newer one, they simply offer you a free redeem code or a discount of sorts. I know this practice exists as I have benefitted from it in the past (ie: Broken sword games). The devs were nice and polite, nothing like 2K.
So how much space do I need to install this thing? 2GB for the installer and additional 3,2GB for game itself? Just to be sure... Also, are there characters' shadows on the ground on iPad mini with retina? In the "what's new" description it confirms shadows for latest A8 devices only. But I've seen comments previously about shadows for iPad mini with retina as well (even before the A8 devices were supported), but from the gameplay videos I found on youtube (which claims it's recorded on iPad mini with retina) there are no characters' shadows on the ground. Thanks for clarifying in advance.
That's not their fault though. You can't compare pc and console to this, because it doesn't have the same architecture or requirements. $20 doesn't warrant you to have support forever, it just gives you the lease for the game- and even in a mobile state it's worth more than $20.
I already bought EW in the sale. But i was wondering if it includes EU and adds extras or is it a sequel or what?
It's like comparing the original Street Fighter 2 vs Street Fighter 2 Turbo for the SNES, if you know what I mean: same game, but with many more things.
Cool thanks. Might as well delete EU and start a new game with EW. Its been a while since I've played and completely forgotten what I was doing :O
Good idea... I wound up playing a final game of EU after I bought EW, and looking back, it wasn't worth it. Shoulda just jumped straight in to EW. =oP Anywho - good luck! =oD
Which, while I agree the being "forced" to upgrade at full price for essentially an expansion is a bit bogus, I really don't see the need to ever go BACK to XCOM: EU once you have XCOM: EW.
I'm stuck with first mission (after the tutorial) already. I'm supposed to swipe between targets (as mentioned in the upper right corner), but there are no targets available where I'm standing right now. I can't cancel, I can't select another member of the squad. I tried to load my saved position (by resuming the game), but it's saved right there and I can't progress. Is it a known bug? Is there a solution or do I need to restart the mission somehow and start over? Thanks in advance.
Ah, the classic tutorial bug that 2K has left in the game and let persist over both iterations of XCOM on iOS. Practically an easter egg by now You have to restart the mission, or at least jump to a save two turns back. It is possible to avoid the situation in which the bug occurs, but often you can repeat the same moves and avoid it as well.
Ayjona, thanks for the explanation. If it was an easter egg I wouldn't find it funny for sure. Luckily I'm just in the beginning, so it's not a big deal to restart the mission. If it's known bug and nobody cares about fixing it, that just cast reflections on the developer. I'm new to the whole X-Com franchise, this is the first game I decided to try so let's hope there's not more issues like this. Anyway, I'll try to load my saved position, I think a saved it just before that happened so I should be able to move that character in different way. Hope that'll help. Thanks once again!
Picked this up for the sale and uninstalled EU. I have an iPad Air, and this game is crashing almost every time I enter or leave a mission. Anyone else getting a lot of problems?
