EU makes my iPad 3 very hot, drains the battery and loading screens take ages and iPad2 is the minimum. Now EW has iPad3 as minimum, so I don't feel like risking.

Absolutely love this game. Worth the price of admission, by far.

Big fan of XCom series so thought I will give it a go. Absolute bargain. Running it on iPad3 and although loading is a bit of a pain it's still worth it. Goodbye cruel world...

Would you not maybe have to start a new game on your iPhone, then go to the pause menu (top right) and load your iCloud save from there?

Yes you can. You have to start a new game, skip the into video, and start the first tutorial mission. As soon as you're able, leave the mission and access the menu to load a saved game. Your iCloud save should be accessible there.

At least, that's how I did it.

How do you climb ladders to get on top of buildings? It always seems to want my troops to run inside on the bottom floor.

I bought it, I have an iPad3 and it's fantastic. It's much more stable than EU. I played a 2h session with mail notifications in between and didn't experience any crashes. EW is better optimized for iPad 3 than EU, even though it's the lowest device in which it runs. Now, if you don't buy you cannot say it's because you didn't know how it would perform and you didn't want to take the risk ;)

Or just use the up/down icons in the left hand corners. Two finger swipes can be a bit tricky sometimes.

I can confirm it runs ok on my almost full iPad mini 2.

Guys can please advise me. When starting a new game what options I should choose. I played b4 EU and it says to get the full experience I should run tutorial. Don't need to learn again but if I start normal game with no tutorial do I miss any story etc ?

And what is second wave etc. Confusing start process.

Loving the new MEC units! Although they may have fully replaced the SHIVs in functionality..

It's tragic and full of death for the unprepared. Bring a mec with flame throwers if you want to get your squad out alive. Say goodbye to your squad if it's early game tho especially with damage roulette on.

I did this with 6 soldiers without any MECs nor Gene augmentations and yes it's quite a challenge (classic non ironman).
    Tip and spoilers:
There is a way from the village to the control thingy on top of the ship. At the top right of the map, you can let 1 soldier go by that route effectively bypassing the whale and the Chryssalids.
What I also did was run to the evac zone while others did a run then overwatch. I did this alternately to escape without losing a soldier

I've never picked mech with flame since I found rarely enemies hang out in groups. Punching is massive damage to the face.

I'm guessing the fishing is an onslaught of enemies. I suppose you need more area attacks but I only have one mech grenade launcher and the rockets on two heavies. Not sure if I'm ready for that level either.. Lol

Flame throwers make the xenos piss themselves scared and run away like pussies if they're still alive after you set them on fire. Handy for flanking mutton berserkers and chyssalids
